Gray Fox Calling 10-09-22

I've had a pair of Gray Fox around the yard for several years now. These calls were made quite close to the house on October 09, 2022 at 1am and 3am. The photos were taken over the past several years when they stopped by the yard.

This recording is the first time I've ever heard the call of a Gray Fox. However, I was fortunate enough to see TWO Gray Foxes last year. I was driving very early in the morning (pre-dawn) and, while passing a large open space/preserve, saw what I thought was two dogs chasing around. The one "dog" chased the other one across the road (two-lane, asphalt) in front of my vehicle. Because I always drive slowly past that preserve, I was able to brake just in time to see that little Fox race across the road in front of my vehicle. I always keep a look out, every morning now (five days per week. always pre-dawn), but, thankfully, no more near-misses with any precious Foxes.
