I have the same problem but my laptop doesn’t have the display port area so I got a hdmi to display port cable I have watched so many videos and none of them have helped

Update: Got an adapter for my monitor which allowed it to connect to my computer with no problem. Now I have two monitors I can use.

Make sure that your display port is plugged into your graphics card and not your motherboard

I had the same issue. Replace the DP cable with a VESA certified cable. Lower quality cables will quit on you after some time.

I had the same bloody problem, so if you have another monitor with VGA plug that in to the PC and then go to device manager press update drive via PC update then wait for all 10 or more updates to finish then your gaming monitor and the other monitor will both show up, if you only want your PC monitor change it to 1 monitor only on settings then you're good to go
