I eat a strict diet of ice cubes and air.

Instead of frightening us with what foods are so terrible, how about a list of foods that keep us healthy.

Some articles say blackberries and blueberries are very high in oxalates and some say they are very low! No wonder people are confused about what they should eat.

It's impossible to have a dinner party these day and get 6-8 people around table like people used to. Everyone is fanatically and proudly avoiding something, be it oxalates, meat, diary, legumes, nightshade family, grains, starches, nuts, saturated fats, eggs and on it goes.

I’ve been taking turmeric for years and all of the arthritis pain in my hands is gone and when I forget to take it for a few days, it all comes back and starts to hurt. I cannot live without it, it has been a miracle for me. I will not stop taking turmeric, I would have to go on pain pills.

I wish I would have heard of Sally 20 years ago. 20 years ago a friend of mine made me smothered pork chops covered in onions. I thought I was having a heart attack and went to the ER. I was told I had GERD and given proton prohibitors, which made me worse. It took me 20 years to realize the veggies and fruits are making me sick from salicylates. None of my doctors ever asked me what I was eating...It is still hard to believe these healthy foods were/are making me sick. It's so hard to unbrainwash what you've learned for so long.

I am from South America. I grew up eating really fresh vegetables and fruits because everyone lived close to farms. I am 41 years old and I have never heard in my entire life that spinach wasn't healthy. I have seen many people around me live well into their 80s or beyond while eating primarily fruits and vegetables. How is it possible that people from the past ate all of that without knowing it was bad and still lived such healthy lives for so long? I feel that when you are unaware that a food is bad for you, it actually isn't. I believe that being less informed about diets might actually be better. It seems like we can't eat hardly anything nowadays.

The citric acid in lemon juice helps to soften oxalate crystals into a chalk that is easier to flush.

One of my friends is 90, in near perfect health. His advice, moderation and variety! Edit: he has never drank alcohol, never smoked or been overweight, has a good family, lots of social interaction, lots of hobbies and interests, and walks as much as he can.

I went on a "healthy diet" after my husband passed away. I ate lots of spinach, beets, Swiss chard, took a collagen supplement for my joints, ate dark chocolate, almonds, walnuts drank tea, almond milk etc. I ended up in ICU with a kidney stone obstructing my left kidney, hydronephrosis and sepsis. I almost died. My urologist recommended a low oxalate diet. I'm on the mend and really watching what I eat. Oxalates are no joke, I wish I had been warned that superfoods can actually kill you!

-Vegetables:Spinach, chard, beet root very high on oxalate
- Potatoes (sweet potatoes included are high in oxalate.
- Nuts (almonds, peanuts, cashews mostly)
-Seeds (pumpkin low on oxalate, sunflower not bad, hemp and chia seeds are high on oxalate)
-Beans (black, white high oxalate, but peas : chick peas, green peas, black Eyed peas, cow peas are low on oxalate, but it has to be soaked.
-Fruits : fruits juice are low on oxalate. Star fruit, star fruit juice, blackberries, raspberries and kiwi are high on oxalate
-Spices: tumeric and cumin
-Tea (black tea is high on oxalate)
- Chocolate very high in oxalate.
- buckwheat, quinoa :high in oxalate
- Vitamin C: can be transformed in oxalate
-Tiamin deficiency : because vit b1 helps to remove the oxalate precursors
- Collagen (high amount) can be a precursor of oxalate .

Since I can remember in Poland, where I grew up people knew about oxalate toxicity. And when sorrel was in season they would say not to eat too much, only a bit, because of the oxalates.

I wish I could thumbs up multiple times. This time I looked at the posts, it reflects my clueless friends. If you don't want to change to gain health, Sally is a nut case. I agree it is a weird idea. I had this weird experience when I went on a keto diet because my husband needed to for diabetes and Parkinson's. Both legs knee to thigh started sweating acid. It took me a few months to find Sally. I was dumping oxalates and my immune system was attacking it. High dose prednisone, it turned into a sort of dry eczema. 8 months later I am trying to control the dumping. Oxalates explain my erratic health history and I am grateful to have found the problem late in life. It's a fantastic story that I was forced to listen to.

Over seven months carnivore. Ive lost 40 pounds, reversed fatty liver, diabetes and diverticulitis. Among a long list of wins .... I'm not winded anymore, no more bursitis, arthritis no more bleeding gums, my anxiety meds gone pepcid no more!!!! Carnivore saved my life!! I'm sixty years old too and feel better than I ever have. As a sugar addict I'm better off without any!

Prior to Carnivore, I was eating DAILY:
Spinach, Sunflower seeds, sunbutter, sweet potatoes, kiwi, chia seeds, hemp seeds, hemp milk, quinoa, almonds, pistachios, cacao, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, and several cups of herbal tea per day.
I had no idea that the majority of my diet was the highest oxalate foods!

I’ve got oxalate poisoning, autoimmune problems all my life then started getting peripheral neuropathy jan 2023. Luckily sally’s book appeared in my Amazon recommended list, I shudder to think what would have happened to my physical and mental health without this info. Sally is definitely one of my favourite humans😂. Only thing left to do is try and dump this junk safely🤞. On a positive note though, the psoriasis I’ve had for over 15 years has gone, as well as the peripheral neuropathy. Thank you sally🙏.

You are a wonderful interviewer!!! I’ve listened to Sally dozens of times. You focus each guest perfectly and steer them so well and don’t over talk. Your technique is superb. Thank you, it’s a gift.

Experimented with some dark chocolate today and within an hour my thumb was throbbing. Learned that lesson…I am a dedicated ketovore.
I have developed a taste for sour pickles and sauerkraut with cheese for dessert!
