Israel and Hezbollah have reported ground fighting inside southern Lebanon, a day after Israel announced it was invading. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran would ‘pay’, after Iran fired around 180 missiles at Israel on Tuesday. In the past week, more than 1,000 people have been killed in Lebanon. How will Israel respond to Iran’s attack? Is this just the beginning of more conflict? Ben Lazarus, The Spectator’s special projects editor, discusses with Gregg Carlstrom, Middle East correspondent for The Economist.

the simple answer is: they'll keep going until some wider agreement is reached between the US and Russia, then military support will dry up on all sides and that is going to be the end of it. it's just a shame so many people have to die because of power balancing, thought we knew better.

Targetting Mossad is worrying ... They are also located in The West

it all depends on what the AIPAC dictates to the US administration to do....

This is the exact opposite of when you have two friends that obviously like eachother, and they keep nearly getting together but you have to roll your eyes every time they pull away because you know, and they know it's inevitable and you just wish they'd just figure out some way to break the tension already.

Israel will target Iran back. That simple. And i i am curious how Iran will look like afterwards. Curious how their air defense system works

Israel has one of the most technologically advanced missile arsenals in the Middle East, including both cruise and ballistic missiles. Israel domestically produces these missiles and has also engaged in exporting missile systems to other nations

Not much damage? What does that mean? The missiles got through and shows the Iron Dome is useless. Please help..I am confused about not much damage.

Whatever the truth is, if Iran is attacked in a major way we can ALL expect the closing of the Hormuz strait and castasphre of worldwide fuel price increases. by hundreds of dollars per barrel. Where are the statesmen?

Interesting that the Spectator decided to go with an ‘expert’ from the Economist. In short, every prediction the Economist has ever made has been woefully wrong. If they told be the sky was blue, I’d have to look out the window to check.

The solution to the Middle East's trouble is of course Pax Judaica Orientalis, after the Mullahs are deposed. The problem with the above is of course the American Raj's view of Pax Amaricana Globalis as the soluition-- which in essence makes the current Middle East conflict into war of liberation of the Israeli vassal from the American Raj.

They weren’t ballistic missiles. Hypersonic missiles supplied by Russia!

Yeah, but what if the Saudis get off their lazy arse, and help Israel hit Iran?

There’s a reason why the satellite images of the air base they targeted have pixelated clouds put over them
