Do REITs in non-registered accounts have phantasm distributions which you do not receive, and have to pay tax on, and only adjust your average cost basis?

Hi Bassem - i accidentally funded my RRSP Questrade account instead of the margin account. Would that count as an RRSP contribution? Also is there a way to move the funds from one account to another or would that be considered an RRSP Withdrawal?

Excellent analysis. I might consider purchasing Smart REIT. I like the fact that you have experience actually driving by companies that take up the real estate. There is something about observing the physical presence of the investments you own. I think the thing that pushes me away from "foreign" investments that pay dividends is filing foreign taxes. But I really liked this video and your analysis.

I think for Smart REIT, I’d be interested to know more of Walmart’s plans in Canada. In the US, they’re ramping up their online business so I’d be curious how that might reflect on the brick & motor operations in the next 5 years.
