Since Unity announced an install fee a couple of days ago all hell broke loose and the entire game dev community is angry at them. Of course many Unity developers are worried about their future and are looking to switch to a different game engine. In this video I'll give you some guidance on how you can switch from Unity to Unreal Engine.

I recently started learning Unreal, and l'm so
sad to say that the more I learn Unreal I realize
how many assets we had to pay hundreds of
dollars for in the Unity assets store that are
simply provided and preinstalled in Unreal FOR
FREE. And even more, there are tools in Unreal
that blew my mind. Unity would never make
such tools not in a million years, now I can say
that there is simply no competition between
Unity and Unreal, Unreal is Levels LEVELS above
Unity!! And I am glad Unity did what they did
with the fees and pushed me to learn Unreal.

I really really really hope that backfires for them and they revert this decision

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm sure the exodus from Unity to UE will be massive and people will be scrounging for good tutorials to get the hang of the engine fast.

buy his course. A very good one!!! One more thing with UE is that the marketplace has a huge amount of free assets and do not forget megascans--!!!

Highly recommend his Udemy course. Ive gone through quite a few from different teachers. And his is very good in terms of step by step explanations and his voice keeps you alert and awake.

I just bought your Unreal for 2D games course and WOW! I'm really loving it! you explain things very well and the pacing and structure of the course are just on point! I love to see how consistent it has been the sensation of progretion throughout the course! I'm only on chapter 4 and if the course ended there I would already feel the investment was worth it! I feel this course is a total bargain for it's quality! thank you so much and I'll definetly buy any other courses you put out about UE!

You’ve been one of my favorite devs ever since you began this channel. Good job on your growth! Looking forward to more.

About blueprints being slower overall for UE. You can convert them into c++ later to improve performance.

I want to love Unreal for full on game dev, but I don't know what it is that prevents it from "clicking" with the way my brain works. Part of it is due to the way the GUI communicates information. I'm coming from the position of an artist though, and less from the position of a programmer and that might be the reason for the struggle.

Dude. I literally started making a game for the first time in my life with Unity, but then switched to Unreal for the sole reason that Unity had this annoying splash screen when you start the game, and you have to pay for it to go away. It didn't happen sooner or later, it happened literally when I started making a game for the first time. God saved me.

I started learning both Unity and UE4 in school. I have always preferred UE as I'm more of a visual person. My brain understands blueprints better. I struggled to do just about everything in Unity. I haven't really touched Unity since UE5 came out. But Unity is great and UE does have issues as well.

I just started your course, I'm very optimistic!
I'm still shocked that unity really doing
I did a 2d unity course before.

Unreal may be the engine I learn to make my first games. The 2d tutorials are definitely going to be saved on my playlist so I can learn how to make games like that.

I told a lot of times to different peoples about Epic Games using their own game engine creating games comparing to Unity
Just because of this reason there is no way for Unity to be better
Using your own product is significant way to improve it and this way is very underrated

We have even live example of it
Many of us know about "Escape From Tarkov" game (currently I talking about own product usage, forget about that the game made in Unity)
Game idea is objectively great, it's definitely different from any other shooter.
But playing it most of time is not fun due unstable multiplayer code and bugs and lots of cheats.
We know that cheaters was banned but everyone of us have feeling developers ignoring cheaters, it makes our fair gameplay even more worse.

Nikita Buyanov claims they are playing Tarkov but we have seen developers Twitch stream of Tarkov in their own game
Can anybody believe they are really playing Tarkov? I played the same after first 50 hours gameplay.
So, conclusion, no own product usage, no developers understanding how annoying all current Tarkov bugs = game is far away to be for everyone.

Anyway, by comments I can see there just was need to make video, so everybody eventually able to hear out, lol :)

For 2D games and simple 3D ones like Cassette Beasts, UE is probably overkill; Godot is more than enough for those cases, and it's more similar to Unity in my experience.

Plus it's FOSS. Maybe someday it can become the Blender of game engines. This influx of devs is massive for an open-source project like Godot; definitely gonna increase its development speed to get to that point.

Either way, they're both more trustworthy than Unity is right now or will ever be at this rate lol

I was wanting to start with a game similar to stardew valley and almost used Unity to do it (I’m a C# dev). They completely destroyed my trust and caused me to download and install UE5 instead. I’ve been using your udemy course to get up and running with 2D and actually have my basic starting point done. I’m about to start planning out my game now.

Hello, I am transitioning my unity project to unreal, which is an isometric 2D game, but as a newbie I find it really hard to find relevant contents about 2D, much less isometric related. Do you have any plan of releasing any tutorial about that on Youtube/Udemy?

what's the game at 3:48? It doesn't look like those two mentioned games
