Not many people know about it, but America had planned carefully in case the Apollo 11 mission went wrong. With a slew of risky challenges, the moon landing very well could have failed - and Nixon was ready with a speech that still inspires today.

I cry everytime I read this speech, it is without a doubt the greatest speech never told. It's such a powerful speech for all of humanity, inspiring hope and determination through tragedy because that's how humanity has got as far as it has, the few and noble brave laying down their lives in the name of hope and prosperity of all

I guess take off their helmets or otherwise break their space suit seal would be the thing to do, but wouldn't that be an oxygen less death as well? Or would they pass out from the pressure and have a more peaceful experience than gasping for air in a little fishbowl helmet.

While attempting to find a landing spot on the moon they almost passed the fuel limit needed to escape the moon's gravity. They had already agreed that they were not prepared to accept this failure and turn back even if it meant using every last drop to find a place to land.

brave as fuck, and that is why Buzz can legally punch you if you tell him he didn't go to the moon, he would have died for you so that your species meant something greater.

yes, it would of haunted NASA, but we all know the risks, I would risk my life, as you would too, for a chance at the greatest adventure of all time.I can only imagine what those 12 astronauts were thinking, standing on the Moon.For 3 million years our ancestors looked up in wonder.
