🔴 Expand Internal Storage on New $19 Walmart onn. Google TV Box with OTG Cable & USB Drive

The new Walmart onn. Google TV/Android TV Box is now available and this tutorial will show you how to expand storage with an OTG cable and USB Drive.

Since the new Walmart onn. Android TV Box only comes with 8GB of storage, there isn't much space left for installed apps once the operating system and pre-installed apps are accounted for. This simple mod will allow you to run applications from a USB drive by expanding internal storage.

It's important that you do not enable USB Debugging in Developer options. If you do, when your device reboots, the USB drive will not load.

As a bonus I will show you how to install the free TROYPOINT Toolbox on the onn. Google TV Box so you can install apps not available in Google Play Store.

This tutorial requires an OTG Cable and USB Drive and you can find the ones that I use linked below.

I love device. I think it’s way better than a fire stick or even fire cube. My old Samsung smart tv is so unusably slow. This fixed that.

(Update I figured out how to get the USB and Ethernet working on the 2023 Onn box read my 2nd comment below) I was going to get 2 over the weekend after you sent me an email and ended up side tracked. You sent me another notification letting me know they are for order now. At first it said they were already sold out but I was persistent and was able to order two. I think you were right and they might go fast again. Usually I don't like notifications but I haven't minded yours. I appreciate what you do. So does my family they just don't realize it. I am going to be switching them off of Amazon devices I purchased for them in the past and if these onns work out, as I believe you in that they will, that's what they are going to be using now as I switch them out and say that they are the newest and best thing Lol. I have never passed down any of my Shields so they really don't know. Have a good day.

Excellent info, and EXCELLENTLY shown and described, THANK YOU, Subscribed. I have one of these, note to folks, if you use a separate google account for your device (as I do), be sure to log into it once in a while or somethnig, otherwise after a year or two, it'll be disabled. Happened to me and things weren't working on the ONN to add any apps, etc. Used the Resolve option for the account, got it restored, and all was well with it again.

VERY frustrating there's NO ONN help other than for their actual ONN/Roku TVs. Lost my manual (couldn't figure what all the buttons were for, some icons meant nothing to me, . I think I've finally figured them all out, still not sure what the bookmark(?) button does/is for though... :) Also frustrating the the small round button with a TV on it jumps you to Youtube TV, and no way I've found of changing what they do, ditto for other bottom buttons, Netflix, etc. Rather than opening the box up and clipping the bottoms of the buttons, I expect I'll finally just remove the whole button, and put something over the holes to keep dust out. I often hit the Netflix button when trying to go forward or back in something playing.

Lastly, I DO wish they'd include play/paust button as well as fast forward and back buttons, lots easier/more intuitive than clicking the "OK" button, then clicking it again to pause. And having to go down/over to jump ahead 10 seconds or back.

Great video. First problem I ran across with the updated ONN, is that it blocks you from setting a custom launcher as the default launcher. You can access wolf launcher, but no way to make it default. It prevents you from making it default in the launcher manager. I hope this isn't the start of Onn becoming like the Firestick

Thanks for this. I ordered 2. Should ha e them tomorrow. Im so tired of the firestick and all of the Amazon propaganda that comes with it. I am also happy that i can expand the memory, which isnt easy on the firestick. I have a Shield and i love it, but these will be great for my other tvs and a great replacement for my firesticks!!
