Fire HD 10 Tab (2021): How to Insert SD Card (Portable or Expand Internal Storage)

I show you how to insert (put in) a SD Card (max 1TB) and choose as portable or expand internal storage (can download apps to sd card this way) on the 2021 Amazon Fire HD 10 Tab. Hope this helps.

Thank you. I've done this 4 times with different Fire tablets I've bought over the years. Each time I forget how the card goes into the slot and have to look it up. You're was the best, straight to the point instructions I've seen, so I'm going to save it to a list.

FYI - From my experience, extra storage is a better option. That makes it much easier to upgrade the SD card later or replace it if there is an issue. It is also nice to be able to put the card into my computer to transfer files when needed.

This is not working as internal storage! I chose the extra storage but it still not accepting it! Still storing everything on original storage & it’s extremely frustrating! What am I doing wrong?

Just bought an 11th edition Kindle Fire HD to replace my 7th edition Kindle Fire HD. The biggest card that the system will run is a 128GB Micro SD, not a 1TB. Not to be too fussy about it, I blew a 128GB card hot-plugging it into my old Fire. Be safe and shut off your Fire before plugging in or taking out the Micro SD.

When I inserted the card, nothing came up on the screen, even though I made sure the card was firmly in the slot. I bought the sd card that was recommended by Amazon. I don't know why my Fire doesn't detect it.

My Fire didn't prompt me. I wasn't sure it even could read it till I opened storage and I could see the card there. It has slide buttons for : *Install Supported Apps on your SD Card *Download Movies and TV Shows to your SD Card *Download Music to your SD Card *Store Photos & Personal Videos on your SD Card *Download Audiobooks to your SD Card * Download Books & Periodicals to your SD Card - all of which are slid to "on" by default.

It also has " Erase SD Card " and a "Safety Remove SD Card" which I hope I didn't screw anything up on that when I pulled it out not thinking it was working !

For file transfers, pull the screen from the top and select settings, more options and change USB options

How do make the SD card as a default? I did the whole setup, but it’s still not downloading into the SD card.

I did this and I see the same screen as you but whenever I try to download something it tells me there isn't storage. Why aren't things going to the SD card? TIA

After installing my SD card (which was predownloaded with my favorite songs), my HD Fire 10 acknowledged it's there in Storage setting but it won't open when I tap on SD card. I hope you could have extended your video to show how you use the data inside your SD card. I don't see any reviews on YouTube doing such. I hope you'd consider doing a video with a predownloaded SD card just like mine. Thank you.

Hi, my daughter was running out of storage in her internal Amazon Fire tablet. So I bought a SD card and chose to use as internal storage. She recorded a couple videos and it keeps saying that she is low on storage. Go to settings and it says 0 B free of 0 B.. I know I did it correct to use as internal storage because it's giving me the option to use to move SD card as portable storage

I installed a 256gb card but the HD10 won't allow me to save my movies/tv shows to the sd card. It fills up the internal memory then quits downloading because the memory is full. How do I assign movies, etc to go on the sd card?

Question? So when that SD get full and you want to swap it with another card does everything you have placed on it not operate anymore from the device itself?
