Top Tip for Sound Mixing (using a basic analogue mixer)

This simple tip is the most useful thing you will ever learn about mixing your sound. It tells you how to use the mid-sweep knobs on your mixer. I learned it from a Yamaha sound engineer and it's great and it's simple - perfect :).
It includes a detailed explanation and a live example.

I do the same thing for live sound, except I cut and sweep to hear when it sounds better. But this is just another good way of comparing what you are hearing when sweeping. On a 31 band, I do this as well by asking students to boost a bit and listen then cut a bit and listen. This is a very good video that I will show to my students as part of a discussion on 'using your ears' to tune a sound system. Cheers!
