If all the tipping seems excessive, I want to say that it was money very well spent to have someone get you through the airport and help you at every step.

This is exactly what I was looking for my elderly dad who's flying internationally alone for the first time. Thank you.

Oh my God thank you so much, my mom is flying internationally for the first time she cannot walk long distances and has disability in her right leg I made sure to request wheelchair assistance but wasn’t sure on how it works your video answered all my questions.

I recently used wheelchair assistance at two major airports for the first time. It was a smooth, amazing experience. Without that help, I would not have made it to the departure gates or to the airport exits where I could be picked up in a car. The help provided through the TSA line was great. I tipped each person who assisted me $20. I traveled with a carry-on and a personal item bag. Although I was capable of lifting my carry-on into the overhead bin, on one of the flights the United Airlines flight attendant hurried to my side and placed my carry-on into the overhead bin. I told her I realized she didn't have to do that but told her how grateful I was for her help. I'm more likely to travel by air in the future because my experience with wheelchair assistance was A+.

Thank you for saying that the wheelchair assistance is NOT a Nursing Assistant! Many people will need to hear this.

That part of Tipping caught me on...
Some people "thank you" is a song of the day 😂😂😂 but anyway better than saying nothing!

Thank you @AverageMe for this detailed, multiple scenario example of requesting a wheelchair. Super helpful and we are ready to take my aunt to the airport this Friday!

Subscribed to you now sir!

At DFW Dallas tx. I was told by the airport staff that at the ticket counter of your airline you can request a NON PASSENGER ESCORT PASS to assist someone [an elderly ] to the Gate. That way you know they got on the plane. Also as you said when purchasing a ticket you can request wheelchair assistance if there is a layover and at the next airport they will assist them to the next gate.

The very first thing you mentioned about not having to be confined to a wheelchair and just having it to speed up the process was exactly what I needed to hear. I’ll be flying back from the Philippines in October and I have some disability, but not to the point where it affects my ability and endurance to walk. I’ll be traveling alone for the first time and instead of explaining my disability in detail, my mom just requested me to travel in a wheelchair. On one hand, I’m grateful that someone from the airport will just be there to guide me, but then I still do feel a bit of guilt.

I interview for the wheelchair agent position next week. My mother uses this service and it is also a good way to help and meet new people. Wish me luck🙏🏽. New subscriber here

very good information! I just want to say that I am unemployed, my mom is on social security. It gets really expensive when you add up paying plus tipping Uber, sky caps, wheelchair assistance(especially if you have multiple connections!). And I was really sad that at the end of our travels the wheelchair assistance helper told me that I did not give him enough! Also don't forget to add in the cost of the ticket, and if you have to pay for luggage to and fro.

Minneapolis/St Paul airport is working on a new program to be much friendlier to disabled passengers. Hopefully this will apply to their equipment (wherlchairs) as well & we'll have less damage.

Flying into Seattle from Ohio tomorrow and having to figure out accessible accommodations for my 75 year old mom who has mobility difficulties has caused me so much stress. Your video answers one question I had. So thanks. But I still don’t know how I am supposed to get her from baggage claim with all of our luggage without a wheelchair or assistance. I need to get to the link light rail in Seattle. I hear it’s a long walk from the airport to the train station. 😫
