just dont touch the reins- its very simple. a horse is ridden by a concept where the rider's legs generate the horse's energy and the hands control it, so by grabbing hold of the reins you are- in effect- either confusing the horse or reducing the rider's control of it. hope that clears up a bit of confusion :>
