Teonna is one of the most mysterious characters in 1923. Even though her surname gives us some clues about his link to modern-day Yellowstone, we bet you are not ready to find out whose grandmother she really is!

Yes and that would be a great way to end Yellowstone by giving the land to Kasey and Monica who in return allows the Indian reservation and Mr. Rainwater back on the land. Where James Dutton originally stated in 1883.. This way the Indian reservation will protect the land pure and not let anyone chop it up..

It's an interesting theory for sure. However, I disagree on the bit about the lack of Native American consultants. Mo Brings Plenty, AKA Mo, is shown behind the scenes to be an advisor and consultant of Native American affairs on Yellowstone.

Yes I think they are real related. I cheesed a friend who I known since I was 4 years old since we're both Cherokee descendants we are cousins haha maybe two brothers married into the same family.

Not being native American myself, I am cautious not to overstep my perspective here. I do think that Rainwater's character is interesting and that he has also evolved quite a bit as the story behind the Yellowstone ranch has gotten more popular. His desire to use western "white man's" rules as a means to regain the Yellowstone land seems plausible at least, and the later conflicts he has within his own community also seem reasonable to me [i.e. with Bluewater]. He's no caricature of a native American, and frankly might be just as guilty of personal ambitions as the people he is fighting against.

As I delve into 1923 more, I find Teonna's struggles to be free and be herself very captivating. I'm admittedly no fan of organised religion and the horrible things it has done in subjugating native peoples all over the world, so her fight against and the rule of "civilised society" in 1923 is very interesting to me. There is the issue of Adam Beach's questioning of Kelsey Asbille in a Native American role to consider, which certainly adds some credence to the critics saying the Yellowstone isn't interested in giving voice to Native American issues. That said, the Yellowstone franchise seems to be making better decisions in some ways. With Teonna's character there looks to be a genuine effort.

Again, I don't know what first nation consultants were brought in to make her story realistic, but it seems a deliberate attempt to make the Rainwater connections to the Yellowstone another arc in the story. I hope this is a move in the right direction.
