My LHI C&P exam… the physician didn’t ask anything about my military service. She wanted to know about my family tree. My claim was denied so I sent in an 0996. The HLR reviewer had me complete a second exam but with the VHA. I was approved for 70%, three weeks later.

I was so nervous about my C&P exam but the Dr was very nice, supportive and understanding. She went in to everything and gave me time to explain things. She asked questions that helped me remember things I could not in which made my case stronger. Then she recommended I go to the VA to register for therapy and provided me with contact information. As well explaining different treatment methods for PTSD. Awaiting my rating. Wish everyone else had the same experience

You should make a video laying out a mock C&P exam what it looks like sounds and ways your word it. And talk about bad rxamples as well that would be pretty cool and helpful.

I went in with my waist length hair no combed for days, my duck dynasty beard, crocks, and Yoda sleep pants. 70%..

Clay you are a wealth of knowledge. Just met with my psychologist and psychiatrist for the first time last week. It was scary, but good. Diagnosed with Anxiety and Depression. Sure do appreciate you.

Went and did my C&P exam last week. Forgot to tell them my mother in law died in a car accident. Me and my wife were in when a Nurse was drunk and high hit us. She died a few hours later in the ER. Didn't give them any reason to deny my claim. I didn't have a diagnosis of PTSD and never sought out any help. I wish I had submitted my Buddy Letters first before I submitted a claim. I was harassed and threatened by my NCOs and Xo. They denied my request for cross-training after I scored higher on the ASVAB in the top 10% and they denied my request to transfer to another base and swap with someone. They tried to humiliate me by trying to get the First Shirt to make me pick up trash on base in my Dress Blues. I have been out of the Air Force since 2006. Im awaiting my status from the VA. I had to do a HLR because they didn't at first do a C&P exam for PTSD, only for the tinnitus.

I just did my exam for MH not too long ago and was denied. The denial was due to no continuity of treatment. I went to a civilian psych and they came up with the same diagnosis as the C&P examiner. I have to figure out how to get the civilian docs write up to appeal I guess.

Yea my examiner tried to assume that I had ADHD or ADD when I was a child all because of how I was reacting to noises in a new environment to me it was as if she was trying to diagnose me for one thing when initially I came in there for an exam for an increase for my PTSD I might be crazy but I’m not stupid. Why would she try to do such a thing when none of them made sense it was like she was trying to get me to talk about my childhood instead of the PTSD stuff when I never had problems during my childhood I see that is a thing for them to do so when you get done with your exam. They deny you on the spot because they’re going to say oh his PTSD is not really PTSD is just a trigger from his childhood that I haven’t addressed. This is very sick.way to confused vets

I had my c&p exam today and the Dr. was easy going I answered my questions straight forward and didn't talk too much. He said he agreed with me having PTSD and he was going to put in the "remarks" that I need intensive inpatient care to help me deal with my PTSD? Has anyone ever had that at their exam?

Great advice. Unfortunately, my C&P doc only asked about my family history and any behavior issues. Strange exam, as I was waiting for him to start asking about my symptoms. Not sure how this is going to go now…

Has anyone here had a positive C & P exam, then followed by an increase or denial?

I just had my exam, and the doctor was great, and he suggested he would recommend 100% (Im currently at 40%). He also said they may very likely approve the increase, but it may not be 100%.
