Noteful adding layers was a game changer for me. Being able to mark of PDF’s by adding a layer has been a huge help. I can now share the original PDF without including my markups.

I use layers extensively as an online private tutor. During a tutoring session, I will share my iPad screen and open up a PDF of the textbook in Noteful. While explaining concepts to the student, I can easily scribble on diagrams in the textbook. When I have more than one student using the same textbook each student can be assigned their own layer.

fair enough… Honestly, I think Noteful is better than notability and goes face to face with good notes 6 (which I had). But I highly suggest improvements: -Better typing experience, it is difficult to put charts in all places (fix bug problems when many colored text charts are put into 1 page). I cannot put videos, only images. I would like to have tittles where i can open more texts (just as notion, apple notes has already implemented it). Text recognition improvement (typed and written recognition). Faster and easier ways to put links to connect to specific pages (zones of the page) and different docs

Just recently discovered noteful, having the tool bar at the side is actually one of the reasons why i’m so eager on purchasing this one rather than other popular note taking apps!

Nice review! I’m now finding it hard to choose between Noteful and Noteshelf! I have been playing around with both and discovered that Noteshelf has a good Favourites tool which allows you to save up to 7 preset pens and colours. You can lock photos and text in Noteshelf, which you can’t do in Noteful but Noteful has does have Layers, which I find useful. I don’t find the pen tools very good in Noteful: they all seem to be the same. Maybe it’s because I don’t have an Apple pencil, just a cheap clone which doesn’t have pressure sensitivity. Could you do an update on Noteful 3 sometime maybe?

As usual, Ropsie, you nailed it! The lack of a more useful search function is the reason I cannot use Noteful. I hope I am wrong but I have a suspicion that the developers will add handwriting recognition but along with a subscription fee. Tell me I am wrong-I would welcome that. And I would welcome being wrong with my pessimistic view they will never improve the search functions.😮
