Buckwheat & side sleep is 😮best for me 🙏

The pillow I use/need is a Cervical Butterfly Pillow sold in medical supply stores. NO other pillow will do. Except I have to open it up and remove some of the filling because the space under my neck is very small. I know I have the size right when the back of my head goes over the pillow and touches the mattress. The "arms" of the pillow hug my head. I'm addicted. The polyester fill works well and I'm not sure what could improve on it although buckwheat sounds inviting. I'm just now getting ideas here of "jerry-rigging" one out of wool.

I've found that the Tempurpedic neck pillow works for me, with more neck support in the front...being primarily a side-sleeper. It is memory foam, but I've not smelled anything coming off it, which is just a little reassuring. Since I also use a CPAP for sleep apnea, my head position is important. The buckwheat pillows are too "firm" for me, even though I can shape them, and I wake up with sore ears. So it goes...

I’m a side sleeper mostly and use a temper pedic pillow with a cheap thin pillow on top. I get the firmness plus the soft top layer.

I went with a buckwheat filled pillow for a while, but eventually kept coming off it during sleep movement. For the past couple years I've been pretty happy with a contour latex pillow. The firm latex is comfortable but does not let my head sink in too far, and the taller ridge under my neck mostly prevents my head from sliding off. It can get expensive fast when you search for a good functional pillow! Thanks for your suggestions!

I generally get relief from a buckwheat hull or millet hull pillow. I am now stuck on my back elevated due to BPPV activating if I sleep on either side.

Thanks for the informative video. I have been sleeping on my back and taping my mouth for several weeks now and the improvement is amazing. But I have some upcoming surgery that will require me to sleep on my stomach for 10-12 weeks after. I have never felt comfortable on my stomach and don’t know what kind of pillow to use or just not at all. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Doc. Thanks for doing these videos! I’ve got UARS and your content has really helped me. Is it possible that a CPAP would make my sleep worse? I got one and also have a MAD that will be ready next month. I wonder if having the low arousal threshold means a dental device would work better than a cpap due to the cpap being so invasive. I used a cpap last night and felt like I didn’t sleep at all still!

Hi Doc - thanks for all your info - I am having terrible sleep problems - 1. I work on my computer until 11:00 pm 5 days per week - can you recommend what I can do after I finish working so that I can fall asleep 2) If I fall asleep I wake up at about 2 or 3pm - I am tired and anxious most of the time

Dr. Park Where do you get your mullet hull pillow? Also what do you think about the NeckNest pillow? Yay or nay? I think it looks cheap/made of cheap arterials and might offgas. Not sure what it is made of but not natural ingredients.

I've tried everything - spent hundreds on different pillows and even have "created" my own. No matter how hard I try to support my neck so I am in the position you describe, my chin drops forward and my airway closes. I always assume it is because I have very little neck curvature. I wish I could find an answer.

I had to laugh abt ur "two great nites of sleep". Ive had maybe three (3) in my entire life that I can remember. I always try to think back on what the circumstances were that resulted in it -- but memory fails!!!😂

I had great sleep when I had COVID and was taking Nyquil with Benadryl. Also, while under general anesthesia. I am very slim, but have OSA due to narrowed passageways. My spouse says I sleep with my mouth open, evident by the dryness on my lips in the morning. Also, I wake up to hot pink cheeks. I believe this is due to catecholamine release during apneas. A video on OSAs link to Rosacea and catecholamine release.

PS: I am afraid that if I taped my mouth, I’d suffocate.
