People in North Korea have told the BBC food is so scarce their neighbours have starved to death.

The government sealed the country's border in 2020 in response to the pandemic, cutting off vital supplies.

Exclusive interviews gathered inside the world’s most isolated state suggest the situation is the worst it has been since the 1990s, experts say.

It has also tightened its control over people's lives, our interviewees say, making it even harder to survive.

When you allow one person to have total unlimited power and control over a country and its people, this is what you get.

It's so similar to abuse and neglect in families. The guilty parties often go to great lengths to hide the victims from society. There has been horrible cases. Such as the bodies of starved and abused children found in freezers. Just because the guilty, often mentally ill to a severe degree, fear being exposed more than they fear for the life and well being of the victims.
