I want to know if there's a way to set subtitles permanently, so you don't have to keep selecting them. I suspect there's not but you're video selection is displayed under 'how to permanently turn on subtitles'. Why does everyone misunderstand this question that so many of us want the answer to? When we say permanently, we mean just that, so why do we only get sites that tell us how to turn them on and off, which we already know? Is there a setting for the whole of YouTube, to set them to ON and in my chosen language, until I turn them off? I'm sick of watching episodes of things, where each time a new episode comes on, I have to re-select subtitles & language). Even if the answer is 'no', it would be nice if someone would answer that in the websites for selection on this subject. I get so frustrated and angry when instead of saying there's only a negative answer to some of our questions, the people who answer don't look at the question properly, in detail and just give the standard answer, when clearly, 'permanently' (or some other difference in questions that are similar), is written.

I did find where to put on the close caption …my question is on one of my previous videos that I have uploaded …a subscriber asked if I could put the close caption on in French …

does my subscriber do that on her end ???
put the close caption on and then change it from whatever it’s on to French ???
Because that is what she is wanting it on…

I’m wondering because if i get several people asking me to put them in certain languages how would that work I’m confused…

This does not remove CC on the next video you play... it's fucking annoying they keep turning it back on...

I've turned them off a million times and they come back on after an ad plays or when I move on to a different video.

On the smartphone app the captions automatically turn on in every video i watch. I have to manually turn it off every time

Yet on my tv I have them turned off in settings play a video captions turn on automatically. Turn them off during video it plays a ad and turns the captions back on. Video returns after ad with captions back on. Go to my phone after watching the TV the captions are on. Now if I turn them off in the app it stays off until I sign in on the TV.

Just go down the bottom of the YT video. See CC. Red line under CC; captions on. No red line, captions off.
