Thanks for the video. It used to p*** me off that it took 3 button presses to get the subtitles on with my last LG. With my new one it takes 30 (and one to get out), but now I've learned that one of the menus and submenus I have to go through scrolls up as well as down, and on 2 of the others the item you need is at the bottom of the list so you can just press and hold, I can now get the subtitles on with only 12 presses and 2 holds (and one to get out) - whoopee! Of course you can assign shortcut buttons if you pay £50 to get their 'Magic' remote (as opposed to the 'Crap' remote) or you can pay a load more to get one of their soundbars so the TV's loud enough to hear without the subtitles

I hate to read instructions. I don’t know why that have to make it so difficult, when they can just put in the control. Thank you so much!

Quickes to use voice button and say 'Turn subtitles 'on' (or off), takes you to a small menu where you click off or on. Simples!

Thanks for the video. I was hoping there was a 1or2 button press solution to the cations on and off selection. I upgraded from an LG C9 only because I wanted the latest in picture quality of the G4 of which I am extremely happy. However If I knew that they had changed and complicated most of the settings via the remote, I would not have bought the G4. Something as simple as turning the captions on and off is now absolutely ridiculous.

They have Also screwed up live tv recoding. Now you have to go into the settings to activate it, however if you change channels you lose the live recording and it starts again on the new channel. What’s the point in taking away the temporary recording, to save space on the 5TB Hdd? Defeats the purpose of having live recording option. So stupid. On the C9 it retains the live recording no matter if you change channels or use another app and I don’t have to activate it, it starts recording when I turn the tv on. Isn’t that the whole reason for connecting an external hdd?

I don’t want to activate voice commands for various reasons, I guess that’s why have a remote control with buttons. It’s not a smart tv anymore in my opinion.

I will be looking for a tv with better settings options closer next time and it will not be LG if they don’t change the current ridiculous settings.

Okay, thank you, I followed the steps and disabled subtitles. I start a new video in an attached USB drive and there are still subtitles showing. So...how to disable subtitles if this does not help?

Yikes! My Panasonic has a single push button on the remote for subtitles. Poor, illogical design.

OK, another addendum but hopefully a more useful one - if the button with the 3 dots on the remote in this video does the same of mine press on it and scroll almost to the bottom and you will find subtitles - which now reduces it to just 6 presses and one hold to get your subtitles (and one to get out), BUT... if your remote is like mine and has a button with a rectangle with 3 dots and one with a rectangle and an arrow then these are your subtitles and exit buttons respectively. Perhaps it's my imagination but I'm pretty sure that some or all of these buttons did nothing at all until after I'd pressed their counterpart buttons on my old remote

Hi. Thanks for the video. I came here hoping there was a 1 or 2 step solution to turning the captions on or off. Sadly disappointed. I bought the G4 as an upgrade over the C9. If I knew they had changed the settings to the ridiculous settings on the G4 I would not have bought it. It’s not a smart tv anymore.

Furthermore they have screwed the live tv recording on the G4. You have to go into the settings turn on the live tv so it can temporarily start recording live tv so you can rewind/rewatch temporarily, however if you change channels you lose any temporarily saved recording. So annoying and If you don’t turn it on in the settings in the first place, it doesn’t record at all. So disappointing. This didn’t happen with the C9, it automatically started recording when you turned on your tv with an external hdd connected. I am at a loss as to why they would change this from how the C9 does it. If it was not for the great picture quality on the G4 I would return the G4 and buy a different model or brand.
Hoping they can change this with an operating system upgrade or something.

I bought an LG TV. Can't stand it, I wish I'd bought something else. Cumbersome navigation, tinny sound, menus are white writing in a light grey background, have to get right up to the screen to read it.

AWFUL
