The 5000 Meters is the most popular running distance in the world. With over 15,000 5k runs each year, millions of people toe the line to see how fast they can run.

Although many attempt this distance, few can ever call themselves the world record holder. In this video, we'll take a deeper look at the history of the 5000 meter race and see which athletes changes the running landscape the most.

You are one of the best producer of such videos. I think you should have mentioned other Haile's records in the video like you did for others because during those times Haile had a lot of other records. My all time best athlete in long distance running is the great Kenenisa Bekele!

Those early 5k records were impressive, maybe more so than current records. Compare: life to 1900 to 2000, training, nutrition, track surface, shoes (racing flats and trainers), and travel

Even now, near the end of 2019, nobody is anywhere close to running times in the 5000 like those run by Gebrselassie or Kenenisa Bekele. Heck, Paul Tergat's fastest times in the 5000 look awfully good today.
