The reason Mtn Dew and in general other sodas can dissolve most critters, is because the acidity breaks down the proteins the more it is exposed.

This why some folks like to marinate their meat in their soda of choice. Mtn Dew is a Citrus based soda so the Citric Acid will break down meat faster the longer it's submerged.

So if you ever need to marinate some meat for a cook out or if you just want to try it out and see what happens.

Pick your soda of choice. My advice, either Mtn Dew or Dr. Pepper are really good choices.
