Bjorne and Ragnar will always be the closest bond between Father and Son. They are practically brothers. They may not look the same but inside they are.

I love how bjorn is the only one with his own mind. He’s not caught up with the legend of Ragnar being his father cause he’s bean with him half of his journeys. Ragnar should’ve told his son his true intentions here and they would’ve joined with out a heart beat missing.

The funny thing is, only Ragnar aged in the series. Everyone else seems to never get old.

Man im still so angry Ragnar has died. He was BY FAR the best actor and character in the show and I feel like we didnt see him long enough, I really wish they could bring him back in a spin off and show what he was doing all this time

I would like to see where Ragnar has been and what he was up to all that time.

Ragnar had pretty much the same problem them the 1st earl is season1 when e wanted to look for England. He's forgotten that ambition and Bjorne now has it

Bjorn knows Ragnar the best but I love how he treats all his sons the same even Sigurd who is the least popular but eventually ivar and Ragnar have the best connection

"You are right to think of family"... Ragnar knew he was finsta sacrifice himself to influence his sons ambition.. If only they knew they probably would have hugged and kiss him instead of just walking away from him in this scene...

I wonder if it's right here that Ragnar resolves to die. He has no one to avenge the settlement with him, and most his sons have rejected him. Although Bjorn loves Ragnar, he no longer needs a father figure. If his sons had wanted to go with him, I wonder if Ragnar would have decided to live longer in order to have a relationship with them. As we saw in his hallucination last season, he wishes he had never even become an earl. He wishes he had stayed on his farm with Lagertha, and got to have young Bjorn, his daughter Gyda, Lagertha and Athelstan forever. He just wants his family back. He can't have his new family, so there's nothing left for him in life, save Ivar, who he did still take with him.

Bjorn: "I want to go there!"
Ragnar: "Yup, that's definitely my son"

Granted he asked all the sons to go but the way I always saw it, he knew that only Ivar would want to go, and only wanted Ivar with him for it, taking an army was impossible he needed it to only be a small force that he would then kill, I’m not too sure any of his other sons would’ve been willing to kill their own people for their absent father, but Ivar is ruthless and Ragnar figured he would be, I believe he asked everyone else in order to make them feel guilt over not going with him once they heard of his death thereby ensuring revenge against England, I may be wrong but given his words to Ivar and given that he felt the need to explain to Ivar that he is the most important of his sons, I think he truly meant that, to me Ragnar in his final years realised how pointless all his dreams were, the farming, the alliances with England, even his own peoples welfare, given how he was so willing to kill his own people in England and was intent on revenge on England his true Legacy was death, he wanted the old ways to die, he felt they were outdated and needed to go and so he told Ivar to continue this work to “be ruthless” to me he meant in general not just with enemies but with everyone, show no mercy
