I prefer physical for a couple of reasons.. The main one is conductibility, but also the fact that some movies are either near-impossible to find on streaming services, and even when they are, they risk being pulled any given day. There are services to buy digital movies like Vudu, but those are usually right at or more expensive than you can get the Blu-Ray from a service like eBay. And often times the quality is actually better on the Blu-Ray, not to mention the special features that you can rarely get digitally. The good news is that collectors like us are keeping the hobby alive, so I see physical releases continuing into the near future, even if they slow down a bit. Heck, Vinyls are even becoming popular again.

You forgot the one major problem with Internet streaming. If the Internet goes down there is no Netflix.

DUDE! Slipcases are awesome! Makes the box look so clean and nice. I mean your already up to get the movie. Takes half a second to remove the slip cover and put it back on lol

I'm a collector... And I love my physical discs... I have Netflix too maybe is the future as you said.. However I think the discs never gonna disappear because the feeling to have your own disc in your hands look the disc and even in my case i enjoy the previous movie trailers, makes me feel like I'm in my own cinema, and for me is a amazing experience. ❤️ My bluray disc's ☺️🍷

Most physical media collectors tend to love slip covers, and hate when they don’t have them

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Physical media to me is backup. No internet, no problem. Digitize them and watch digitally at no cost and internet.

Minor inconveniences vs. not owning what I watch

Not a difficult choice for me

Very funny narration, and true. I like physical media - no internet required.

I prefer physical for movies, but digital for shows.

Blu Ray will always be your best friend. There for you in hard times, there with you when your first child is born, there to support you when your wife leaves you and takes the kid with her. Because she also took the internet, and Blu Ray is the only thing you have to watch movies on. Blu Ray is and will always be your main man, your compadre, your source of entertainment. Your best friend

Streaming media feels far less personal and far more disposable to me.
I’m of the opinion that if I spend money on a film (or music) I’m going to ensure I consume the media. With Netflix and Spotify, everything is more disposable.

Not instantly into the album you’re listening to? Fine - you didn’t pay for it, only the monthly subscription. Find something else, you might enjoy it more.

And that to me is the biggest issue with streaming media I personally have. There is no monetary outlay on the media people watch now apart from the subscription, so everything is far more disposable as opposed to the days when we went out and picked a single movie from Blockbusters on a Friday night, or when we went into the local HMV and brought an album.

We knew we had invested time and money into our media consumption, so to dismiss the music and films we consumed then had more a financial repercussion. And because of that, it meant we were more invested instead of having a niggling feeling at the back of our head that we can click off and find something else immediately.

I had no power for 5 days after a bad storm knocked down a pole on my block. We had no cable/internet either. Even when power came back, we still waited 2 days for the cable company to repair their we used a generator to run the fridge and tv/Blu-ray player. All we had was our PHYSICAL media. My Netflix subscription was completely useless while costing me $18 a month!!! I will never stop collecting physical media! It’s the only way to truly OWN the thing you pay for.

I prefer Physical Media when I buy a blu ray or DVD it feels like I won a trophy or something you can't replace that feeling I also enjoy online streaming but I prefer Physical Media most of the time

Der er stadig en butik hvor man kan leje film i Hinnerup i 2024. Det må være en af de sidste

Some movies are so old and unknown that you can only get them on DVD at Amazon

I just watched Spider-Man Homecoming on Blur-Eay. Wow! Defiantly worth it. I have always noticed that Blu-ray and dvds have much better picture and audio quality than Netflix and other online streaming. I have to always adjust the brightness and contrast for streaming movies, as sometimes the picture is so washed out.

While you have a valid point about waiting for physical media to load, depending on your streaming player, you've still got to go through three menus to get to Netflix (or whatever streaming service), wait for the Netflix icons to load, and then wait for it to load to start playing. And if the connection is slow, it's going to pause in the middle of the movie anyway. Barf.
