Physical media for me is about uncensored content. They are going pretty hard on censorship with old movies

Physical Media is best.
Streaming Services are horrible.

Physical media will always be superior to streaming. I feel sorry for kids today and generations to come who won’t have that simple pleasure in life.

Absolutely true. My girlfriend thinks it's redundant, but I love going upstairs and picking a physical movie. It's a thing of pride.

This news legitimately makes me sad. I love physical media and going shopping for physical media. Nothing beats looking at the shelves and seeing what they have and seeing movies you haven't seen yet, and buying it. I also love looking at my shelf and seeing my collection and watching it grow over the years. Love you John, we'll get through these dark times.

that time traveler i met back in the mid 90's was right. he told me "you won't like the 21st century kid, it sucks, the future sucks, you'll miss this. enjoy it while you can"

I’m actually dropping all of streaming service and going back to Blu-ray. Everyone buy it up so it sticks around! As they say:
YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY!

For me is having my favorite movies in the best quality possible and available when I want them, not having to rely on my internet speed or a payed streaming service that might not have the film in good quality.

It’s such a sad thing to hear. Best Buy was always my go-to place (physical or online) to find movies. They looked like they’d never be topped in terms of that but apparently a lot of these companies are basically holding guns to our heads and say, “buy it on digital! That’s the only way to go! I assume you have the fastest WiFi in the world. Mwa-ha-ha!” What I’m more bummed out about is the fact the Steelbooks are up in the air as most were Best Buy exclusives. Maybe Amazon or Walmart will take over but I’m not holding my breath.

Hold on to all your 4Ks, Blue Rays, and DVDs as well.

If you want physical media to stay alive people need to vote with their dollar. That’s why they come after the youth. Keep your subscription services in good on your censorship anyways.

When you buy a dvd or blu-ray you actually own it. When you buy a movie from a streaming service, you don't actually own the movie. You are actually buying a licence from the studio or production company through the service. If the streaming service ends their agreement with a studio all their movies and shows will be removed. Look what happened with Sony's Playstation Network and Discovery Channel.

I cannot stand this. I love physical media. I like the ability to OWN something. I hate having a streaming service that continues to get rid of stuff that I watch or want to watch. It's the same with video games. If I pay that money I want to have something I can collect, sell, or give to somebody if I no longer have a need for it. Plus it's not like they charge less for digital games unless you play PC. You'll still pay the same amount, but in the end you get way less. Now I pretty much won't have a need to stop at Best Buy for anything.

15 years ago I looked forward to the Sunday sales flyer from BB that showed all the movies on sale that week. I went there every week.

Today I havent bought a movie from BB in years. My Walmart has a larger movie and tv selection.

Its sad to see, but its just shifting from brick and mortar to online. Its easy to blame streaming, but its also that collectors have already built up most of their libraries and therefore sales are slowing down. Most catalog titles have been available for a long time. Only enthusiasts will buy the same movie multiple times for incremental upgrades, so the hobby will evolve into a niche that caters to collectors.

I'm going to buy as many 4Ks as I can on Black Friday

I’ve always loved and related to your saying,

“I buy blu-rays to help me feel better about myself and what I’m doing in life.”

p.s. I miss you, man. 💔

This is why I still collect physical copies of movies and especially video games, if physical goes away, do we really own our digital stuff?
