The Revenant is a true 4K disc. It would be better to compare older Blu-rays that were shot on film to new 4K transfers - those are the biggest upgrades in my opinion.

The only good thing about 4K?

Pushed Blu ray prices down significantly!

You forgot about older movies that were shot on FILM. Huge improvement!

Something you didn't talked about is AUDIO, you will find DTS X and Dolby Atmos in more 4k blurays than regular blurays

Hdr doesn't interest you? To anyone that's curious, try and watch planet Earth 2 on a good 4k hdr setup and you will understand that it's a massive upgrade.

I think this video needs a follow up, 4K Blu Ray has come a long way since 2017. Keep up the great work!

Watch Blade Runner 2049- that will change your opinion on UHD.

How could you disregard HDR? HDR alone is enough to upgrade

This video hasn’t aged well. There’s lots of 4K HDR content that looks jaw dropping.

The past few years I’ve built a significant Blu-Ray collection. I’m perfectly content sticking with that.

Native 4K DI: Yes, definitely worth it.
2K DI upscaled: Stick to the bluray

4K bluray is good here in Australia because our crap internet struggles streaming 4k, especially if you have others in the house watching hi def content at the same time.

The improvement in color and sound for the 4k is worth it to me. Not for every movie of course, just the ones that have good visuals and a lot of repeat viewing. Most of the 4k discs I bought were $20 and less. Bought T2 Ultra 4k for $7.50.

Without getting into the video, I vote a resounding YES. I just recently got my 4k TV and blu-ray player, and sampled a little bit of "The Martia"n in 4k. There's no going back to regular HD now. To me it's the same wow factor as upgrading from SD to HD for the first time.

I buy 4k movies - but they are true 4k (I..e shot on 35mm film) or 4k digital cameras. You will see a big difference in these compared to the older Blu-ray HD and DVD versions. The image has no compression artifacts. Better clarity, better colour and alot sharper. I avoid upscaled 4k - unless it's a film that truly benefits from HDR treatment.

4K now days has completely changed & even then it was pretty impressive :) The Revenant can be debated but I noticed a major difference in the way it was shot & how 4K with HDR can pick up resolution, colour, light & sharpness like anything else.

Also for gaming references, The new Call Of Duty is amazing in 4K & it legit feels like they are real & right in front of you

Ps. Blade Runner 2049 is amazing in 4K & also a Youtube Video on Costa Rica in 4K :) Both showcase 4K & the 4K Television at its best.

According to IMDb, The Revenant is actually mastered in 4K DI.

I know this is old, but I really wonder how good the HDR capabilities of your TV were because the differences are huge in my opinion.
