Thanks for the video. The two chords your were asking are diminished chords (1-b3-b5). F# Diminished - F#-A-C and A Diminished is A-C-Eb.

Easily the best genre tutorial I’ve ever seen in my life. Not only that, but there is much useful information in here with regards to building drums, song structure/arrangement workflow tips. This is GOLD, thank you!!!!

The Garage sound really evolved from the Todd Edwards/Louie Vega era circa 93/4, whereby London DJs would typically hold 'Sunday sessions' with those records speeded up. As the 90s progressed it then moved more away from deep house and by 97 the 2-step sound was a fully fledged phenomenon.

I’m literally so buzzing that you chose this song 😂 it was what I was going to write as a suggestion at the beginning of the video! Mate, you are such a boss. Agree with every other comment when I say you have captured UK garage to a TEE! Incredible explanations, one of the best Ableton youtubers going, definitely the best for your alternative Electronic dance styles.

UK garage/speed garage beats have been about since at least 94, the 2 step riddim came around in 97 👌🏼

You're killing it mate. These videos have really been keeping me busy in lockdown and sparked my interest in making tunes in ableton again. Keep it up and thanks from the UK!

Glad I found this. Just saved a Bulb Bass preset in Massive X. Never even knew the name of the bass sound. Big up from London.

Seriously one of the best tutorials I have ever watched. Learned a ton about arrangement and how quantization works with Ableton.

Easy Stranjah I was a bad boy UKG dj in 2000 played on top London pirate radio station in the 2000s. I am an authority on 2 step, me and my partner Reguez and Styles had 2 step locked down back then. just came out of retirement after 18 years getting into production thanks to you.

The chord you were wondering about is a diminished triad ^_^

It probably feels like it fits so well because it's the vii° of the harmonic minor scale, which has a strong gravitational pull back to the tonic. I would suggest looking up "dominant function" to learn more!

Todd's entire prima edizione album is absolutely phenomenal. The swing that you mention and both its mellow yet energetic and uplifting sound is really something else like I can listen to it to either keep me awake and pmped up at work or to help me fall asleep.
