Donald Trump has survived another assassination attempt, after he was rushed to safety on Sunday following what the FBI termed an apparent assassination attempt at his golf course in Florida.

Asked what he made of this being a potential second attempt on his life, he said: “Well there’s a lot of rhetoric going on, a lot of people think that the Democrats when they talk about ‘a threat to democracy’ and all of this, and it seems that both of these people were radical lefts.”

So how has this happened again? Does it mean anything new for the race? How is it fuelling conspiracy in the background? Americano host and deputy editor of The Spectator Freddy Gray is joined by The Spectator’s economics editor, Kate Andrews.

It's hard to take this seriously when punching down is such a stupid concept.

In the debate Trump was 'fact checked' a few times but no fact checking for Harris. 🙄

It’s not punching down. It’s legitimate criticism of the moral and psychological disorders of a man who wants authority over a nation. That’s needful in every case. Just this one has a lot to work with

Most politicians "punch down"(whatever that means) to appeal to their base in these days of politics being used as tribal bloodsport

Who are these mythical people you're referring to when talking about punching down? You mean politicians and media personalities?

What a joke.
