The Steam Deck is like the swiss army knife of portable gaming.

14:03 Just so you know Bob, Valve actually happens to be working on porting the steam deck UI to the desktop steam client, it’s supposed to eventually replace Big Picture mode. I’ve been playing around with it in the steam beta branch and it’s been awesome. It takes a little finagling with windows to access in it’s current state though. I’m excited to see it integrated into the stable branch eventually!

I knew the second I started modding my Arcade1Up for a video that you would have an arcade built, shot and edited a video and posted it. Never cease to amaze me Bob.

You can make basically every controller Xinput with a program like X360ce, set it to run at startup and you'll never have to mess with it.

One note for someone replicating this that might want to use a steam dock they also want to use elsewhere, put hinges on one of the sides or the front so you can access the inside without moving the cab.

Man, you should absolutely provide the blue prints for this build 🤯

This is easily one of the coolest videos you've put out in a while. That cabinet is absolutely epic!! Love that you pulled the trigger and got the vertical screen. Totally worth it and transformed the entire look of the final results

launch box and big box front end is the way to go on windows. you can completely replace the windows UI with big box with a single click. helps with bootup times as well.

My steam deck dock is hidden in early 20th century metal luggage. When you open it you find a a complete gaming setup. It's my masterpiece

Bro, a mini PC will be perfect for this, that’s what I did years ago with an Intel NUC and Batocera as the OS. You can do the same, but if you wanted to use SteamOS you could just get an AMD powered mini PC like the HP Elite Desk and HoloISO as the OS and you have your Steam Deck in a box.

The monitor in that orientation is perfect for an arcade cabinet. I have seen that monitor before but never thought of that use case. Awesome 👌

This is amazing and something that I hope to do eventually. I love the animated/live background. You just got super big points for having lots of Atari logos on the cabinet. Finally a roller ball for playing Centipede!!!!👍

The idea of using a square monitor in an arcade emulator has been around for a long time.
But in Japan they didn't understand the idea at all. I am very happy to have someone here who understands that.

Wolf this is amazing! I want to build an arcade but something that can play modern systems and has a more modern look and you knocked it out of the park! Super amazing!

As someone who only experienced the feel and witnessed a true old school arcade machine. I got to say that is a pretty solid build for an arcade machine aside the fact it's all run by a modern brain for emulation. There is one arcade style I don't see often, that being the Cocktail arcade table. Now I know it's not really the most convenient version of arcade machines but it certainly is a unique one. I know some fold up and you can get one somewhere online but I've yet to see an ultimate emulation done on one like what you've done with your machine. it'd be kind of cool to have one as a nice decoration you can play and of course it would be liquid proof & Food proof.
