What are your thoughts on THE ACOLYTE getting cancelled??

My only fear is that all the wrong lessons might be learned by the those who feel a battle has been won with their online behaviour.
Other than that I really don’t care.

I really loved The Acolyte and it sucks that we're not getting a second season. I heard two reasons for the cancellation, one being low viewership which I believe is false because even hate watching still gives the show views. The other reason is money, I don't really know how it works but I'm guessing The Acolyte did well enough for a second season to happen but they didn't have the money for another season so until they get the funding they need season 2 is shelved for the time being.

I’m not surprised at all. The first season was ok but not enough to get multiple seasons. I feel like they can do better than The Acolyte.

I fear that if Lucasfilm would recreate the vibe of ANH and the OT... People would have still been outraged.

SW is too vast and encompases too many genres liked by too many groups - by committing to one approach you will surely alienate someone else.

And let's face it - fake outrage on the internet pays way better than sincere moderation.

Personally, I think it sucks we won't get to see more cool action with Plagueis, and the fighting in the show was some of the best ever. I think the fandom menace is real, people are entitled, and if you complain about shit that was a dream for kids in the 80s, you won't get nice things. And now you're not getting them. So suck it up, you reap what you sow, and people online sowed hate

I have too many thoughts here, none of them happy…

I’m at a middle ground with the show, I honestly don’t think it’s AS BAD or ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE like the world keeps saying. It’s at a perfect middle ground: while some characters didn’t do it for me and half the episodes were OK, there were legitimate great moments and arcs and the other half (3, 5, 7, and 8) were great. I do feel that the Acolyte did have a good spot where it could wrap up at that point or continue onwards from the last episode. HOWEVER, even as someone who did like/get intrigued with it in the second half but didn’t get a super spark on everything, I still don’t like its cancellation or the celebrations of said cancellation. It’s just caving in to hatred from toxic fans and non-political hate and giving them what they want, and sending the signal that fans of the Acolyte just don’t matter to anyone or anymore. I find myself siding with the pro-Acolyte side more and more just due to all of the hatred and malice thrown at them these past months and now this week as well.

I just don’t even know WHY I bother with Star Wars anymore now. Hatred and elitism are the norm used to block out the few who might disagree or like “unpopular” media. There’s nothing that stands out to me anymore even with D23. I don’t give any care to Andor due to how horrible and elitist the fans are. And it feels like the sequels are just continuing to be erased from existence with NO Rey movie announcements and even Galaxy’s Edge starting to overshadow the sequels with Mando. I’m sorry, I might have to start distancing or unsubscribing soon because Star Wars is just having no meaning for me anymore. I’m a huge prequels/Mando/Clone Wars/sequel fan, but I just feel like nothing and I don’t matter anymore.
