As someone born and raised in Alabama. You never escape the tide. I was studying abroad in JAPAN, and someone screamed "Roll Tide" at me. I had so much whiplash, I had to sit down

James Spann is the one thing Alabamans can be absolutely proud of. Hes a true legend and has saved many lives. Glad you brought him up!

The thing about James Spann is true though. If he has his sleeves rolled up, RUN. FLEE TO SAFETY!!

There’s a certain manager of a certain Bistro that uses Roll Tide when talking to a very specific couple.

"A regular tide doesn't roll, it pods" 💀💀

"I refuse to act like those words in that order make any sense to anyone" is part of my language now.

I like to scream "ROLL EAGLE!" at people and watch the confusion blossom.

Alternatively, "WAR TIDE!" has a similar effect.

An ibis is the last bird to seek shelter before the hurricane hits. Also, it's a lot less silly than a guy running around dressed as a hurricane.

As a UM fan, a bit of history: in 1926, the school enrolled it's first students. That year, the great hurricane of 1926 hit. It killed the land boom and almost killed the school--but the school survived. The team is named after that hurricane, and the ibis is a reflection of the school being here both before the hurricane and after.

For those who don’t know, Crimson Tide was a phrase once used by sports commentator Hugh Roberts to describe the image of Alabama’s team running out onto the field. “Roll Tide” then became the rally cry for the team. The school’s mascot was and as far as I know always has been an elephant.

Auburn’s cry War Eagle comes from some old legend (not really sure about the legitimacy of it. I’ve rarely been told about it) But apparently the first time Auburn played Georgia on the field some eagle was in the stands with a Civil War vet, and it was supposedly one that he had found injured during the war.

Yknow, I grew up in Alabama and I'm just now realizing how insane all of this sounds 😂

The thing about James Spann is legit. His house was hit by a tornado while he was on the air a couple of years back. He saw it was heading towards his house and stepped out for a minute to make sure his wife was ok. Once he knew she was safe he was back on the air. Dude is a legend.

James Spann, Nick Saban and Alexander Shunnarah pretty much sum up the entire state of Alabama. The rest of us are just along for the ride.

Wearing an Auburn hat with a Bama shirt is a war crime.

I'm from Alabama and this skit is way too accurate for me.

Fun Fact: The ibis can live and thrive through a hurricane and is an indicator of an incoming hurricane. Go CANES

I was unprepared for Florida's r/ConfidentlyIncorrect moment, & yet, _flawless_ branding. 😂😂😂

No one wearing an Auburn hat would ever say Roll Tide unless they were ironically mocking the University of Alabama
