Released in 2005 by SEGA, the ‘Yakuza’ game series was positioned as an entertaining game for adults, which found massive fanfare amongst its target audience. The series depicts the lives of fierce yet passionate gangsters and people living in a huge entertainment district, Kamurochō, a fictional district modeled after the violent Shinjuku ward’s Kabukichō, that acts as the backdrop of the gameplay. Like a Dragon: Yakuza showcases modern Japan and the dramatic stories of these intense characters, such as the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, that games in the past have not been able to explore. Coming October 24 to Prime.

If I really had to guess, this will most likely be a standard, slightly exaggerated yakuza story (yakuza like the film genre, not "Yakuza" the franchise), except made with a slightly more western (hemisphere, not the genre) flavour, akin to something like John Wick. And there will obviously be some cheeky, low-brow easter eggs from the games here and there. It will probably be decent, just far from special, yet may succeed based on brand recognition, or because standards are at the lowest they've ever been.

For those who are excited to watch this show, I hope you lower your expectations for a bit. Because according to the director, all of the casts of this show told them to not check the original material of this show and wants them to do their own way of the series. Which basically means is that, the Kiryu we all know and love might not be the same as the TV Series... But we'll see.
