me, watching this as someone who's just finished Yakuza 0 a couple days ago:
"Oh holy shit this transition is really good-

It's a small detail but it's interesting how the PS5 buttons dropped the colors.

after getting my hands on this game, I can say that the battle system is A LOT more engaging than it actually looks. yeah, there’s button pressing for various attacks (like timing it or mashing), but the “perfect guard” system also plays a big part in that (pressing “guard” at the right time so you take less damage, even if you didn’t select the “guard” option on your turn).
then again, I’m someone who was already fine w/turn-based RPG combat, and if you know you’re not an RPG fan, that’s fine. but for those who are just unsure in general, it’s worth trying out if you can!

Just started playing this and I thinks its awesome. I miss playing turn-based JRPGs, but its hard to relate when the setting is in high school (a la Persona) as a dude in his mid-40s. Its nice to play a JRPG in a more modern and realistic setting (aside Ichiban's imagination during the battle). I love this game!

Currently going through the series. I'm at Yakuza 3 right now and I can't say I'm excited to get to this one. Not a fan of turn based combat. I'll play for the story though I guess.

As a person who has played all the mainstream Yakuza games I love the series a lot but I just feel like turn based combat kills it cause like Yakuza is all about doing the action yourself instead of just choosing what to do and having the system do it for you but nonetheless I still respect peoples opinions for liking this game

A lot of people talking trash about this game. Honestly I like turn based combat like this. They should at least be happy that the characters aren't just standing still but actually move around.

Honestly the gameplay isn’t bad imo, I like how it is a turn-based combat with extra twists like timing your defense or choosing the best target to attack and deal the most damage (I’m new in the yakuza series played yakuza 1 on ps2 back in the days and this is my second yakuza) yeah the stories are different which is good for me since I don’t know much yet and in all honesty the game is rather a fun way to relax and take a fresh air….also the more I played the more it made me feel that this gameplay was meant for mobile….but still its not bad

I’m a turn based lover and I’ve never played a Yakuza game. I don’t mind being the minority and saying that this game looks like some HEAT! I’ll only know for sure when I can get my hands on it!

Guess I won’t be progressing to Yakuza like a dragon. Enjoyed the Kiriyu series though, shame they discontinued that cool combat system.
