ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Margot and I am a professional artist and graphic designer. My parents like to joke that I was born with a paintbrush in hand. I started my career after graduating from the renown Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent over 15 years creating and designing for many of the world's top Fortune 500 brands and companies. My painting journey started as a side project and a creative outlet for me to step away from the computer, go back to my "roots" in fine art and to hone my skills as an illustrator and painter. I started posting some of my work on instagram and the rest is history. My work is inspired by all the things that I am passionate about. Ballet, travel, graphic design, color and finding a world of beauty in all facets of everyday life. I hope you'll join me in this YouTube journey as I take you through all the tips, tricks and trade secrets I've gathered throughout the years. I hope I can teach you some of what I know, help you discover your creative voice and I hope you enjoy this Channel!

Thank you. I think the source of my disgust of my own art, is, I try to be a copy machine, instead of having fun, and making it lively. That's a beautiful painting.

As a handicapped artist, I don't have the luxury of traveling to beautiful locations, painting in my studio from references or memory; however, your video solidified a vague feeling I had, that with my obnoxiously bright colors, I can create beauty in my backyard. I recently began putting together a plein air kit because my husband suggested a series of local outings where I could paint and he would just relax and be there to take care of my needs (yes, he is a prince among men). In order to prepare, my plan is to set up in locations around my home and use just the kit. Your video has inspired me and now I am excited about the prospect!

Wow that texture & vibrant colors are so interesting & inspiring. 🥰Oh & I love 💕 how you combined David Hockey’s style of color with Vincent Van Gogh’s style of brush strokes! I never thought of that technique before as a self taught/educated artist. Brilliant idea 💡!!! Thanks so much for sharing this with me!! I have been painting things around my house, yard, & garden but this additional idea is really helpful & just what I needed to create. Enjoy your day Margot!

Margot, I keep asking myself "why are you watching these videos?" My art has no resemblance to what you create! So, I am answerng this question. I truly enjoy your style, design and talent for presenting art techniques, AND, I always learn something! Your quirky personality is entertaining and endearing. I'm a retiree that has picked up my art again after a hiatus. I sort of have taken the approach that at my age, I need to get to the point and not waste time watching unrelated videos!! BUT, I love watching your videos!! Thank you for taking so much time and care to share with all of us! I love the Ah Ha moments you give me each time I watch! 😊

I, too, have that feeling that I'm not surrounded by the proper stimulus, when really it's all about the creative way we can interpret what we see. Thank you for reminding us to see things differently. 👀 Loved your oustanding painting, and Im also a fan of M Graham's luscious paints. 😍

The first painting I was happy with was looking out my backdoor, with a just right old pine. Then pre sunset striping the yard in gold and green from the bathroom window. Then there's an interesting bottom and side frame of trees in the living room and then sunriise and winter. Nothing spectacular, but if you really look, it's amazing what you see

Margot, I love the vibrancy and life in your final painting 😊…I keep a daily art journal and I try to draw something from my day…a pair of shoes, my groceries, a flower that I have seen, a bird that I have heard etc….taking inspiration from the seemingly ordinary can make you look at the world differently.😊

Hi Margot. Thank you for this really helpful video. I will NEVER be a great realistic artist, so to capture something, even the ordinary, and make it special through good use of composition and colour is such an encouragement. Your painting turned out great...vibrant and alive with colour...And am inspired to try something like this from my own backyard. (Or someplace more exotic. ha ha.)

Thank you for this. I have been struggling with longing to “go places” and depression. I actually live in a beautiful place that people travel to for inspiration! The beginning of your video actually made me start crying! I will take your inspiration, and get out there and paint a desert scene today. I do tend to like painting in whimsical color, and I will try and push it further.

This was very inspiring, Margot. I'm at a point in my current painting that I'm trying to decide if it's done. I like it, but I was hoping for something more whimsical. It's not whimsical enough. You have convinced me that I need to have more fun with color. Which I did a little, but not to the point of whimsical. That's my toughest art challenge.
