If you thought Gen Z was bad, just wait until you see Gen Alpha. Gen A is the first generation in human history to be born after the boom of the internet, and they're the children of Millennials. They will be the most technologically literate generation in history, and also the largest. virtual reality and AI will heavily influence their development throughout adolescence and that's probably not a good thing.

As a gen z who can actually remember what it was like to not have a totally burnt out attention span, playing outside with friends, being bored and drawing, reading for long periods of time and expressing my imagination, and just having a more overall peace of mind in the present day at the time, it's really sad to know that the younger gen Zs and gen alpha won't know what that feels like

As a member of Gen Z, we have a responsibility to raise our kids in a way that fights against this sort of developmental damage.

I’m a millennial and am raising 4 gen alpha kids now. We don’t spend much time on screens around here - and we’re in a neighborhood with families that have similar values. My kids are smart and thoughtful. They like reading books ( a lot), playing sports, playing instruments, coloring, walking to our little downtown. These kids are living childhoods pretty similar to mine. Maybe just… iono, not give your kid an iPad?

And if you’re a gen alpha kid reading this, just go do something in real life! Toss your slavery-brick (aka phone), and go live your big, beautiful life! You’ll get more used to IRL interactions and I promise you’ll love it!

Gen x here. The only social media I know is YouTube. I don’t really get the other stuff.

As someone born in the Middle Ages, I can confirm that society is decaying.

The takeaway from this shouldn’t be that we’re doomed. The takeaway should be that it’s our job to fix it.

the internet genuinely helped me become a better person. my parents are horrible and I've self taught myself everything i know because the internet sparked my passion for math and physics when my parents trashed on me for liking it

As a millennial, I lived my childhood and half of my teen days without internet. When I contemplate how life back then was, it feels really surreal, something from a fairy tail where time slows down, hours in the day seem longer, a day of the past may carry tons of memories while these current years seem empty, fast as if swallowed by a giant black hole. I'm lucky to be part of a generation where family and relatives reunited every evening, houses never felt empty, and the streets were full of kids and teens playing together, screaming happily, filling the world with life. A generation where watching TV was interesting, listening to a piece of music was like magic, and people were living instead of watching life alone like outsiders. It was a life where everything seemed interesting, where we could still be amazed, curious about the new things around us, happy when we play a new game, happy when we find a good movie on TV, then discussing it for months... we were enchanted to see each other, to have a new piece of clothes and to travel to a new place, we ate and appreciate the food without bearing the anxious thoughts of taking pictures of it... we were discovering life with pure curiosity. Now we know all, but we experienced nothing... we see all the places in the world, but we are nowhere, we feel everything and nothing at all because we experience things superficially, and we are saturated with many worthless repetitive things.

As a Millenial, I suddently feel kinda humbled by the fact that I'm literally part of the last generation of people who had their childhoods in an age without the Internet

Gen Alpha's shortcomings are the direct consequence of their parent's crappy parenting. Facts! Today's parents are spineless. Hey parents, stop trying to be the "Cool Mom/Dad." Stop trying to act and talk like 12 yr olds. Embrace being an adult, and your kids will feel far more secure and stable.

As a gen z who deleted tik tok, I understand the pain. Social media should NEVER stay in the hands of a kid, they'll ruin them forever. I hope adults will be responsible and teach the kids well

As gen z, literally I'm terrified for gen alpha. Half of my mental health issues have come from my Internet experiences and now I feel like I'm really stunted in a way. I wish there was something that could be done for gen alpha

Every generation thinks they're better than the last, and smarter than the next. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

As a old Gen Alpha, I think that I grew up good, playing outside, normally do things that Gen Z used to do, I wish that my generation in some way will improve in future, knowing what they will do when they will be adults, knowing what is real life, knowing their decisions for a better life, improve their passions, improve their country or the entire world, or only be able to socialize with people, thank you for reading this. Peace

My 9 year old cousin is a prime example. The kid had parents who just bought and gave him a new piece of expensive tech whenever he fussed. He has autism on the lower end, but his constant and un restricted consumption of the internet worsened his mental state so badly that the only thing that came out of his mouth for years was constant unrelated and nonsensical references to the short videos he’d watched.

The problem is I'm only 14 and I'm already falling into misunderstanding the Gen A slang. Even though I am right on the end of Gen Z, there's such a big gap socially between Gen Z and Gen A that people in their teens* and 20's are already feeling old because they can't understand Gen A.

My 4 year old son is an outcast when he goes to the park because the majority have no concept of what imagination is and can only interact with the function of what is like a slide being a slide or a swing being a swing. When my son starts playing imaginary games kids become confused, they ignore him, they run away from him, or they rage at him and keep correcting him saying something like bench is not a train it’s a bench. Wild times.
