With last year’s release and criminally fast cancelling of First Kill, with its wonderfully queer central love story which gave us a Romeo & Juliet dynamic between a lesbian vampire and her human lover, I started to feel nostalgic for a certain little web series about a broody gay vampire and her tiny gay love interest, and the way it captured the internet. So let's revisit this Little Webseries That Could and everything that made it so engaging!

Laura Hollis reminds me of Peter Parker/Spiderman but the lesbian version. She is smart, brave, righteous and heroic. She isn’t perfect because she is only human and young. She’s still figuring stuff out. And just like Peter, she will always try to do the right thing. Only thing she’s missing is spider powers but at least she knows Krav Maga.

I know someone who was obsessed with this web series to the point of going to a convention, but I didn't get it. To me it just seems like a younger, vampiric, college reimagining of Xena and Gabrielle. The tough serious "hero" and the obnoxious bubbly sidekick. In fact they even stole a storyline from Xena for the movie.
