Is it possible to map the lights through the Nanoleaf app like the Twinkly one?

Did you miss speak? You said that you have to control the two string separately if you add another set of these to a tree. But I understand how manually you would have to control them separately, but if you add them both to a scene, you would not have to control them separately you just have to add both of the Christmas tree light strings to the scene, but the scene would turn both on at the same time with only needing one command from you.

The problem with Nanoleaf is response time and reliability. I’ve changed every bulb in my house with LIFX and response time is amazing.

The only thing is missing for me to jump for it is adding more string to it without having different physical controllers.

Nanoleaf lights aren’t ready for release. Customer service sucks dealing with them is a nightmare don’t waste your hard earn money.
