I'm a native Taiwanese, 17:10 was wrong, Taiwan's self-sufficiency rate for food is actually well below 10. In terms of energy, Taiwan's reserve LNG and coal will only last for 2 weeks, even without a war, our country's electricity is not stable, all the power plant is run 100% yet they are just barely keeping the the grip stable. So, indeed, logistics and domestic resources is Taiwan's biggest weaknesses.
Most Taiwanese choose the Status quo instead of independence (even though we already are), is to avoid conflict. Nobody likes war, but we are not afraid of it, after all, there is no other place we can go, When comparing this to PLA, you might ask: would you rather die protecting your family in your homeland or die from fulfilling some random dictator's delusional dream on foreign land?

Do not say ‘re-unify’…there was never a union between China and d Formosa (Taiwan). So a ‘re-Union’ is impossible. The CCP has never ruled Taiwan. Japan ruled Taiwan for 51 years. Taiwanese have an identity separate from China.

I like how they act like the US is so far away, yet we always have troops nearby in Japan, South Korea, The Philippines, Guam, etc. It would not take the US long at all to come to Taiwan's defense.

Honestly, I don't think that the US would hesitate much when China is actually going to attack Taiwan.
Taiwan got TSMC, which is arguably the world's most important company in the modern age and it also plays a noteworthy role for the US economy because of that.
