Hi Jerome …I just purchased a bag of bonsai supply bonsai soil and this is how I found your YouTube videos. I live in Kentucky and have freezing outdoor temps, therefore, have kept my ginseng ficus and Fukien tea bonsais indoors. I’m new to having bonsai as houseplants and had trouble with a water schedule specially during the winter. I water my bonsais once a week because the soil stays too wet in the bottom half and dryer in the upper half (I use a water meter to check the soil moisture) because when I water more than once a week my ficus started to loose a lot of leaves each day, 2-3 healthy green leaves. This is also why I decided to repot the ficus using the new bonsai soil hoping to fix the problem. The other plant has no issues. I also mist them daily - is that good for the plant. I really appreciate your advice . Thank you 😊

Thank you for the video! I am in Canada so it's very hard to have outdoor bonsai. It has been very hard to get any information on indoor bonsai. Can you do more videos on indoor bonsai and demonstrations on how to repot, prune, wire them? Any information pertaining to indoor bonsai would be so so so helpful! Also is it possible to keep outdoor bonsai inside if you move them to a cold area for the winter?

Hi again Jerome, could you also do a video (when you have time) on how to turn a regular jade plant into a bonsai version of it. That would be so cool. Thank you 😊

Great video…I just watched a video from someone else that said you should not grow bonsai indoors. I have a dwarf gardenia that I got 3 months ago and it’s growing beautifully indoors. New leaves and branches growing…no dead leaves…flowered once so far. I did everything you mentioned as far a caring for my bonsai. Hopefully it will continue to do well. I will get a grow light for the upcoming winter months. Thank you for always posting helpful videos.

i have a question...i have a juniper bonsai which i found out i need a fluorescent light for. So i was lighting it with an led indoor growing light that has both red and blue lights which creates a purple light kind of? i was asking to see if the jade can grow under the purple light that i have. Thanks!

I don't know that I agree with repotting indoors in winter in northern climates. They usually keep their houses cool, the air is quite dry (low humidity) and the days are short so the plants don't grow much (unless using a grow light). I would think spring would be the ideal time?

In my experience some species, especialy some succlents, can grow even further from window - up to 50cm from sun exposed window, or at the window on the northern side - and do fine, namely:
Schlumbergera, Crassula ovata, Coffea arabica, Sedum nussberianum, Kalanchoe bossfeldiana and
Hibiscus rosa sinensis - some rosa sinensis specimen even prefer to be further from window, since sun burns their leaves easily.

Hi Jerome! I live in sunny Florida, however, my apartment gets very little sunlight. Perhaps form 1 pm to 4 pm. I am keeping my new schefflera bonsai indoors with some grow light. My question is: is it advisable to put it outside for those 3 or 4 hours? I’m afraid to damage it with those changes. Thanks and I’m very happy to have found your great channel.

Thanks for the timely topic! I was just wondering...if I am using a grow light, how many hours a day should I leave it on?- I have been aiming at 12 hours. (p.s. waiting patiently for the next auction!)

Thanks for the great video, I am new to Bonsai (3 months). I have mine indoors right by a sunny window. They are doing very well. Question... They get the rising sun until about 4:00pm. Is that enough, or do I need a grow light?

I have a sunlamp (not a grow light) which mimics sunlight. I've noticed my other plants respond well to it. Do you think a sun lamp would also work for bonsai trees?

I just started a bonsai from seed. It's sprouted 2 both about 1 & half inch tall now. When should I transplant and what's the best soil type to use?

I'm looking for a species that will do well in a paludarium w/ 90% humidity.

In my country this type plant lights are not available in market. My east facing room window is far away from direct sunlight.
Please suggest me what can I to my ficus and jade inside my room.
Thank you. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
