I like a lot more this videos that teaches how to make bonsais from the start like the clump stile one than a large impressive yamadori styling that I hardly ever gonna put my hands on, I think that those will discourage newcomers to the hobby but this video teaching basics in an easy-to-digest format are the absolute best, specially to understand the foundations.

Hi Bjorn, thank you for making this extreme novice video. A lot of us have trees nowhere near your normal specimens, so its such a pleasure seeing how you start these off on their journey! Thanks bro!

I just sent my daughter a 5 year old elm bonsai for her birthday, then I came across your channel. I'm going to sign us up for online lessons so we can learn together. I'm mesmerized!

As others have said seeing you style a bonsai from the beginning like this is in my opinion much better for newbies that watching you style a fully fledged bonsai

You are so amazing thank you for sharing and making us better and evolve, five minutes would have been a decade with traditional teaching, I wish I could hug you, much love

Muchas gracias. Que bueno que incluyas este tipo de trabajos con material joven para los que no tenemos posibilidades de trabajar árboles viejos... gracias y un abrazo desde Honduras C.A.

Amazing video, Bjorn. Thank you very much. The most intimidating thing about bonsai for those of us who are "noobs" is how to take that first step going from raw material to bonsai. I'd love to see more videos like this with other species which may be readily available at local nurseries and even big-box stores. Keep up the great work. ありがとう!

You were talking to me! ;-) As a newbie, it’s easy to get sucked in by the purest out there with their “because that’s the way we always do it” attitude. But this video is filled with many “oh that makes sense” and “I can do that” moments!
I enjoyed it so much, I am feeling compelled to help fund the cause! $$$... Don’t tell the wife!

Exemplary beginner nursery stock video. Your videos consistently answer questions before the viewer has the chance to ask. Concise and simplified, the delivery and technique provide excellent guidance.

The downward branch cut is key. Never even thought about that...Best info I've gotten in a while.

Thanks a lot for this video. Would love to see more of this series with other ordinary inexpensive nursery material that isn't bonsai starter trees. Simple quick explanations of branch selection on smaller trees like this makes approaching less intimidating. Would love to see an episode of this with a mugo pine! thanks again! :)

I’ve been watching you since you started YouTube videos . Each new episode brings new inspiration. Thank you. Difficult to bonsai in Arizona. I’m using desert adapted plants now after loosing 15 trees this last summer. Will keep at it. Thank you again.

Fantastic episode! I really appreciate that the logic is straight-forward. And none of these trees seemed out of the ordinary in terms of being nursery stock!
