For all the people that are saying I'm too scared to mutilate the book with highlighting etc, remember what a book is for. It's for learning knowledge. It's not a piece of art. If you are retaining more knowledge from the book by highlighting it, it's a good thing. Besides when you put the book back in your bookshelf, it looks exactly the same.

1. Highlight while reading
2. Note highlight content page numbers at starting of the book
3. At last page note the lessons learned from that book
4. Then also note the action steps to implement lessons

I am thinking in do this, but not in my books, but in a piece of paper. I love my books! 😅

I like the concept of this. But I think what I would do is use a pencil to highlight (easily erasable) dont push too hard tho and use sticky notes or another piece of paper that ill stick/clip to the book for the notes.

I use to take notes on every paragraph and omg. 1 page took me like 20min to complete. I definitely needed a faster way to do this

I like this but I found a better method imo. Niklas Luhmann's literature notes, which is basically identical to this but instead it's on an index card with the front of the card containing the bibliographic info to refer back to.

I've been doing this with my copy of Jeff Vandermeer's X trilogy - but I've been using page flags and sticky notes to help annotate (though I'm also considering annotating directly in some books that I own to kinda leave some notes behind for people to see someday).
I definitely recommend for anyone that wants to take notes from a library book or feels precious with some of their books to use page flags and sticky notes to help annotate! There's even a lot of cheap, clear see-thru sticky notes that are sold online stationary stores, like JetPens (and I think they also may have erasable highlighters and repositionable highlighter strips too).

This is a fantastic idea, I wish books put more blank pages in lol so we can write our thoughts right in the books.

I'm too broke to do this, and I love having lists of "lines" from different books I've already read, because it gives me the feeling of *_achievement_* so taking notes using a literal "note"book is still the best way, although it hurts my hand 😂

Iv been reading a chapter, then in a separate notebook ill write a summary from memory of the chapter, then ill re read the chapter highlighting as i go along, then ill write bulleted notes of quotes or re word in my own words a summary of the stuff i highlighted.

So simple but never did this! I always highlight and write things with no problem on books, but seems that writting all usefull notes on just one page could give me a better view of the book. Gonna try it with the book Im reading now thanks!

Jet Pens stationary has special tapes that are removable to highlight, and to write notes for those who don’t want to write in their books. I use them in legal reference books all the time. Like a post it, they leave no trace.

Wow this seems the best book note talking method I've ever seen that I think I could follow through on (forget note cards and spaced repetition, it maybe awesome and the best method, but I will never (ever!) do it)

I'll have to do this for example The Godfather Book i forget what pages my favourite quotes are in next time i read it I'll do this or use sticky notes

instead of using the back of the book, you could also use a flash card
