How do you take effective notes so that you can remember more?

As technology progresses, there are more notetaking options than ever before. While studies consistently show handwritten notes have better retention and comprehension than any other method, we still get frequently asked what the best whole-brain method for taking notes is.

Today, I’m going to take some of these questions from the Kwik Brain Universe on notetaking and do a modified Q&A to go into more specific detail on my favorite methods.

The more information you can remember, the more likely you can utilize those learnings in your daily life. Listen in, as I review several ways to level up your notetaking skills to help you learn faster and remember more.

I didnt know there is a difference between taking notes and making notes. I have started applying capturing and creating principle while listening to your podcasts and I find it easier to understand, remember and apply. Thanks Jim you have really equipped me and i will surely teach this children in our children's home

Really do enjoy Jims content, both free and some of the courses. Best tip for me is implementation, so USING the stuff he shares. This can be the teaching again aspect or applying it in your life.
I still remember the sun list months later, faster reader and so much more I think he can help me with.

Thank you, Jim! You are just amazing! I used this method over 40 years ago when I was in college. In the meantime, I have neglected, almost forgotten this technique. Thanks for reminding me. It is good to know that at the age of 64 you can still "re"-learn old/new things.

Thank you Jim. I look to you as the example of the teacher I want to be in my work. Your calm and quiet voice, your repeating things patiently, Is the right way to approach those who have to learn and understand.

Love this, fits perfect with my son, who is Freshman and struggles Adhd and with taking notes. As I learn methods to help him I help myself aswell. Will teach this to him asap! Knowledge x action = power 💪

Thank you so much for sharing the invaluable information Jim. Last year I listened to one of your podcasts on how to remember items/things using corresponding body parts and imagination (ie. starting from the head, the ears, the nose, ... etc). Pair an item with a body part for memory retrieval. I taught my young niece and nephew this trick and they totally got it. What was shocking is 6 months later my nephew still remembers most of the pairings. I wish your methods are implemented in today's school programs. Your teaching is truly transformational on how we can improve and maximize learning.

I’ve heard of the idea of “making notes” before, but never paired with “taking notes” and presented in such a simple way. 😊

Thank you, Jim for these new "new learnings", you are definitely right when you said that Knowledge should be implemented for it to be considered as Power. Will implement the methods that you teach, with the motivation of knowing that it will help improve my memory and thinking ability as well as the many benefits I will get out of it

I was using a different method in the previous year, and it worked for me which is ( before I went for my lecture I was preparing and nearly knew everything, and even though I did not understand everything and what happened on the next day, my focus will increase, and the note which I will take it will be so clear because I knew how to correct myself and if I did not understand something I will ask) by the way I was asking my self that why I need this and when I will use it. Thank you for your video, which is helpful and appreciate your kind effort to help us in our brain issues

Found this gem on my recommendation, and really see myself not learning from either lectures, podcasts or reading. I started to look into note taking on how we could apply it in our lives. Definitely will give this method a go, Ill more of a handwriting note taking person. And it'll be prefect to apply this! Thanks Again

I’m inspired by your story. How you use to struggle in learning when you were younger. It’s amazing how you have now discovered how all this works… how our brain works. Looking forward to learning more from you. Thank you for sharing your ideas 🙏
