A villian can't be all bad if he can grow his own chorus

Audrey 2 stealing the gun and continuing the musical number while taking potshots at Seymour’s general direction feels less like an attempt at killing him and more like he’s toying with him before killing him and I love it.

What I love about this scene is that no matter how intimidating it seems, how much it scares Seymour, or how gruff and amazing the voice is, the plant’s name is still Audrey. Tooey for short. And I think that’s beautiful.

My God, just imagine the time and effort used to animate a puppet that big!

Hearing a man eating plant say "No shit sherlock." kills me.

If they remake this film, it’ll be ruined if they use CGI to bring Audrey 2 to life. This giant puppet is absolutely breathtaking and more life like than anything I’ve ever seen. Incredible, just incredible.

For those wondering, the voice behind the plant was the late-great Levi Stubbs. He was a baritone singer and the lead singer of a Motown group called Four Tops. You can hear him sing lead on “Baby I Need You Lovin”, “Bernadette”, “Ain’t No Woman Like the One I’ve Got”. RIP Mr. Stubbs

Fun fact: did you know when they filmed Audrey II singing and moving the puppet mechanisms couldn't keep up with the normal speed of the songs so they had to record it at half speed then used camera tricks to speed it up with the songs audio to make it look like it matched? Thought that was pretty cool.

Ever since I was a little kid, I always loved how Audrey’s voice changes from smooth to growling, like when it says “better mind your MANNERS” it sounds angry at him, but slips right back to its singing voice. It just gives Audrey a more detached vibe, like Seymour doesnt mean anything to it anymore but it can still be made mad.

As someone born in the late 90s, the fact that no CGI was involved here just blows my mind. An incredible amount of effort went into building that massive Audrey II puppet and making it not just talk, but sing one hell of a musical number.

I have no problem with modern-day movies using CGI (just as long as it looks convincing), but damn...I wish they still used practical effects as extensively as they used to.

Honestly, Seymour had plenty of time to escape the room.

This is the Greatest villan song of all time Imo. It's literally everything you could ask for in a villan song. It slaps so hard it's hard to comprehend, It's hysterical and The puppet effects look perfect. I'm honestly lost for words to describe this miracle of a song. It's just The best.
