If I’m correct I believe the issue is that YouTube sets prices, like membership amounts and superchat brackets, using purchasing power parity rather than the hard exchange rate. For example, $5 usd is equivalent to approximately 4700 ARS (Argentinian pesos) However, YouTube sets the price way lower because the average salary in Argentina is something like 45k ars a month, or $47 usd. It’s definitely more fair to people with weaker currencies to set prices this way, but I know that people were using this to troll creators like DSP by simply using a vpn to purchase memberships “from” Argentina.
