Fun fact: Apparently Liu had a stroke upon learning that one of the ships carrying tools sank. I am not making this up.

When game about WW1 has more Chinese weapon than game about WW2

What's not mentioned is the machinery that was supposed to make the Liu rifles sat on the docks for couple of years. Some of the machinery was salvaged but most of it were rusted beyond saving!

The Liu rifle's mechanism is also very similar to another WW2 German rifle, the G41W. Like the Liu, the G41 used a gas trap mounted on the muzzle to cycle the action, had an external bolt carrier, and was designed to function as a straight-pull bolt action in emergency circumstances.

So the kar98k originated from General Liu rifle....

This truly is the prequel of the G3 and the MP5 Originating from CETME Model C rifle

My favourite Medic rifle because it was the only Medic weapon in this """WWI""" game that allowed me at least emulate the proper standard issue rifles .

I thought it was going to be a story about a dev just not knowing guns. This is most unexpected.

I don't think that the General would approve of this song playing over his work.

I think you misread the history of this rifle, it was not the forerunner to the kar98k, it was a copy of the Standardmodell rifle, which was the forerunner to the 98k

Imagine how much of a game changer this would have been for the Chinese if implemented. Whole squads of semi-automatics would have been like machine guns against the japapenese if and when they invaded.

China could be 1000 year forwards if they adopted this hella cool of a gun

Important: The Chiang Kai-shek rifle was not a chinese development.
It is a licensed copy of the german Karabiner M24, or "Standardmodell"

Ah battlefield 1, the only game that has more rare guns than it has iconic ones.

Figured Mausers' Karabiner 98az would be more of a forerunner...

The extreme irony of reading the words “Chiang Kai Shek” while Red Sun in the Sky plays in the background

The alternate history where the Chinese Army is the first to adopt a semi-automatic rifle en masse is a wild one.

"However Liu suffered a stroke"

And I almost suffered a stroke trying to read "...the weapon the hand-made springs..."

not even punctuation would've saved that one lol.
