I hope to hear your thoughts on this one. I'm not against it at all, just curious at how wide spread this network is.

Triple 3 has been around for a while. There are lots of folks that monitor those frequencies and test transmit. Very good idea and need more people to get on board . As for reaching out, those in that circle kinda keep to themselves and don’t want attention unless the time is right.

glad to know this. With the way things are going, amateur radio could become more than a hobby for most. Ive always had a 40 channel cb going in my car and I'll start checking out ch 3 and 9. Thanks!

I am a HAM and GMRS card holder, I'm also part of a semi prepper group. We just heard about this yesterday. Thanks!

The 333 plan is great in my city there is a newer GMRS group that is growing fast and I hear them talking and watching over the city like when big storms hit they report to eachother we had civil unrest and one of them was down there with a handheld reporting on it and that was cool

Way back in college, I was a member of our REACT group. An old Lafayette Comstat 23A base, Turner +2 mic, on a M-117 Super Mag 1/2 wave antenna. Great Fun! I can still 'plug-in' my Lafayette 525 into the cig lighter and use a magnet mount antenna in my Suburban or Marquis. 🙂

We need a net of operators able to run code on 11 meter CB and other bands if needed to relay coast to coast like the old hard wire systems did over 100 years ago. Need to really be thinking outside the traditional box on emergency communications. The current tensions worldwide have us somewhat in a 1930s scenario. I regret not learning to run a key. But I certainly see extreme potential in getting emergency communications through over great distances.

I had this on my list of things to setup for my station and completely forgot about it. This is a great heads up. Thanks, Erik.

lived through a "100 year" flood in 2008 in stuck in the house for 9 days....no electricity....Ran a generator for 2 hours every 4 hours all that time...My neighbors and I had to clear the roads of huge fallen trees for the power company....a few people had small boats we were using to pull supplies from house to house....having a setup like this would have been great.

I have a handheld Ham raido for listening only. I just bought a CB radio (Uniden 880) and it came in yesterday. Installing today.

I had to listen to her 3 or 4 times, but I heard "Patriot Pirate Radio". Give it a listen at the start of her recording.

Excellent and educational video Erik. I will look into this in my area. Wish that we had more radio usage in my area!

Wow That Is Wild! Good Idea Theo! CB Is In Need Of Being Brought Back!!!

Having a "net" to help relay info in an emergency is eventually going to be very important. The "old school" will likely be the only one still somewhat standing after an "event" .

And to answer your question directly, while I hadn't heard previously of the 3/3/3 communication framing, I do now, and I'm on board with the idea. Been lurking on your channel for several years now. Trying to decide on a ssb/cb setup as a base. Had it nailed to the President McKinley, when all of the sudden, FM availability clouds my decision, not to mention GMRS and FRS options. 😢

Hey Erik, to be honest, I have never heard about the triple 3 idea, it in a way is a peculiar but interesting idea. I've been sort of wanting to get into the idea of ham radio with my grandfathers friend (I've actually mentioned him before, one of those times was on your live stream, the person with the snow blower). We started on it a bit in 2016, but really haven't gone far with the idea since. With what sounds like a dial-up/fax sound, that is interesting. With the Morse code, I know there are probably a few that can decipher that, but sadly, I am not one of them at the moment.

The Morse message says, with the spaces inserted where the message puts them:

DE [means "this is"] RFR GN ES GOD BLESS THE REPUBLIC 73 SK [means "signing off"]

Before cell phones i probably sent more after hours mva reports to leo's than anyone my area simply due facts of my location + elevated 5/8 wave barefoot GE base & 33 miles of I-75 adjacent. Back then it was desolate and dangerous. Now just dangerous. Still amazed Dad let me put that monster on the chimney/roof. What a guy! Personally i advocate for less interesting times. Sing loud!

Thanks for the heads up. Enjoy your recordings.

It would be an interesting idea to try to set up a relay network from coast to coast, kinda like human repeaters. If you had CB operators at set points who were strung out across the country who had a coordinated plan, I bet they could relay a message from sea to sea.

Great plan to understand! Also a good thing to listen out for. You never know what may pop up!
