Holidaymakers was a New Zealand musical group from Wellington. The band scored two top ten hits in New Zealand in 1988, including the number-one single "Sweet Lovers", a cover of the Bill Withers song "We Could Be Sweet Lovers". The song spent six weeks at #1 in summer 1988 and was the highest-selling single in New Zealand in 1988. The follow-up single, "Waiting in the Sunshine", reached #6 in December of that year.

At the New Zealand Music Awards 1988, the group won seven awards. However, the group broke up soon after the release of "Waiting in the Sunshine". Among the band's members was Pati Umaga, who went on to work in composition and music education at Whitireia Polytechnic, and who became an advocate for physical disability after a 2005 accident paralysed him. #sweetlover #samoamedia #newzealandmusic #newzealand @samoamedia #music #musicvideo #musica #musicsong #aotearoa #officialmusicvideo #officalvideo #song #official #musik #nz #nzmusic

One of my favorites on the charts when I left NZ 34 years ago! Loved watching RTR! When there was only Channel 1 and Channel 2 on tv! TV Kiwi and his cat. Childhood memories. A lifetime ago! I miss green Christmas on the beach or outside.

I remember when this dominated the nz charts. Was #1 for ages. Just bloody goood music that conjures up so much nostalgia of simpler times.

No matter where I am in the world, with this song, in my mind, I'm outside dancing on Great South Road with fish n chips in one arm and using a 600 ml L&P bottle as my mike on the other.

Awesome. Here I am in Western Australia and I keep forgetting to listen to my home music. Sometimes I forget where I came from.😢 I listen to the prince and it all comes back to me. I was in 2nd primary school when the man was next to me strumming and singing without a amp. My heart goes out to the man and his wife and all he loved. He is lost but never forgotten to me, every time I feel lost in this life, the man shows me the way through his music. My only regret is time. GOD BLESS YOU PRINCE TUI TEKA . you impacted my life for the better. ❤❤❤

Met Mara Finau a couple of years ago and went complete fangirl. She was very sweet and quite overwhelmed by this random telling her how much she loved the song haha
