Just discovered this guy, very happy to have done so. I'm a guitarist, but studying other instruments is helpful, and I absolutely love the concise nature of this video series. Another treasure of Youtube.

Great lesson! Economy of motion is also the secret for almost any musical instrument. Thank you Peter for sharing your knowledge and talent.

Thanks again. You must play it slow first and "It's all in the wrist" while staying relaxed. Got it!

I just ran into your channel tonight. (I was catching up on some of Kent Hewitt’s content). Thank you for sharing your insights and understandings, especially in such a nice, brief manner. You provide just enough to get a guy going conceptually, and your facility on the keyboard is an inspiration. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to share.

According to the taubman technique the in and outs are an intrinsicall part of piano technique when you play fast You play very good though and now I am wondering again..,

I noticed Oscar Peterson keeps his hand rock steady when he does his runs, someone else here in the comments disagrees but I have no idea what they are talking about. Speed is about economy of motion, starting slow and keeping the wrist flat as you speed up. A lot of practice helps as well 😁

Well I few levels below this .. I don't understand Peter's fingering. It's like he has finger available at any moment at any place. The finger is there .. he just pushes the key. When I play my fingers are constantly everywhere but where I need them. Guess I need practice more .. and for few decades ..

Actually, it’s not only economy of emotion. You need learn fingering, thoughts, and practice more scales.
