they got away with the violin case because it IS a violin case. that was a common way for gangsters to move tommy guns.

You base your rating system too much on practicality and outside uses, along with whether or not it has new pieces, but you don't base anything on whether or not a character looks cool or would be fun to use. I think the point of minifigures is to get those figures they can't sell in sets, so you can use the minifigures that don't come with certain things, and make those things yourself. Lego is all about creativity, not practicality and usefulness. I respect your opinion, though.

11:36 - _"He's a pretty mediocre figure, another western design..."_ What? That Highwayman is a European "Dick Turpin" style coach robber, not a wild west cowboy character... Not that he was a great 'mystery figure' when I got five of him.

Plus 11:48 regardless of how many surfers came before him, that shark board is the best. And anyway, if some LEGO collector out there is putting together a 'beach party' or 'surf beach' build, they'll need more than just multiples of the same surfer over and over again, so having a whole bunch that _are_ actually unique enough to tell apart, is a good thing.

6:17 - Whoa, whoa, whoa... you call a bunch of relatively interesting minifigs in previous series "mediocre" because you think they're bland but "cute paleontologist who is a fresh design..?" She's one of the most bland designs ever, LEGO is full of generic khaki-wearing explorer types and she blends right into the background.

8:23 well ususally, at least where i live, in the US, on the bananas at the grocery store there are little stickers of the brand on the banana, and they probably didnt have access to put an actual brand on there, so they just put banana as the brand.

The reason the new gladiator doesn't use the bronze (not gold) printed helmet, is because he's based on a different type of gladiator that doesn't use a sword but focuses on aquatic fighting (trident+net)

Ummmm, the gangster really had a violin case, it's a reference to both history and famous gangster films, where they would hide guns/money in them, it is in no way a body bag??

3:44 The reason they emitted the helm with the Roman Gladiator is because he's based on the Retiarius, a gladiator who used a trident and net who didn't wear a helm. The Gladiator from series 5, however, is very clearly supposed to be a Murmillo gladiator, who was designed perfectly - well, with one exception. The murmillo used a Roman scutum, meaning the Roman Soldier's shield should've debuted with this guy. Also, the Retiarius is wearing the armor on the wrong arm.

I don’t see the issue with gender swaps. It’s useful for someone who wants to have a female and male version of the archetypes. But of course they could do a lot more with the designs.

I gotta disagree on you on a number of these. As someone has already said in the comments, you base your rating on whether or not the minifigures bring any unique pieces, but you rarely consider the quality of their details.


For example, the Dance Instructor has a torso that's printed on both sides, her legs are also printed almost all the way around (which is great because it shows off her rightfully tacky zebra leggings), her arms are printed with sweat armbands, and she comes with a water bottle with printing on it. However, you'd rather place it as a bad figure because you feel it's a copy of an already existing character.


Plus, you ranked Corn Guy as bad and you're essentially just pissing off a cult by doing that.
