We really appreciate what you do for us on YouTube our ac went out but with your help my husband was able to fix it we thank you so much. Bad "contactor"exactly what you said.

You reversed the incoming AC power as compared to the output side of the contractor. It was originally red to black and black to red. The new one is now red to red and black to black. I guess this doesn’t matter because it works! This lowly DIY homeowner learned something today. Thanks Steve. I love your videos and watch every one 👍

Nice troubleshooting. I was ready to leave a comment "you forgot to plug back in the washer/dryer!". LOL. you really know how to complete videos. Molly was smelling the fish in the ocean.

I think Miss Molly thought it was a bad capacitor lol

I'm getting better at diagnosis. I figured cap or contactor. BTW difference between a contactor and a relay is that a contactor is bigger and beefier and handles higher voltage, otherwise they function similarly

Steve I saw your new stickers on that condenser. Princess Molly's looking good as ever. Peace brother and Molly

HI Steven, Changed the capacitor on my unit, checked the fuses, and checked the Freon, all good. Compressor still not turning on. When the power is on to the unit, I hear some electrical buzzing in the unit, but the clicking switch on the contactor is stuck and is not clicking (something I can do when no power is going to the unit from the circuit board in the house). I think I need to replace this part. My question is, how do I know the Amps? It looks like the exact one that you have pictured in the video but I saw there are 30 and 40A ones. Any advice is greatly appreciated, as is your great video!

Should of cleaned up those connectors and put some dialectic grease on them to help prevent the corrosion from coming back, chances are it will spread on the contactor again over time.

Since the old one had some corrosion, why didn't you spray some lubricant on the connecttions on the new one? That would hinder corrosion.

It's a Googman / Goog-uh-Dooder. That's the older VSX series (builder's model) back when they were a khaki color and came with Copelands. Something i'd wish Goodman would change is, the 2-2.5 ton have only a high pressure cutout but no low cutout. And when you get to the 3 ton and up there's NO pressure cutouts, neither high nor low. I wish Goodman would stick both a high and low cutout to protect the compressor. #CompressorLivesMatter

I first changed the capacitor. Only way the fan comes on is if I press the contactor button. Once I release it, the fan stops. So, I'm thinking I also have a bad contactor.
