We have a similar setup and snipped the RF cables to make them really short, then placed our Mofi modem in an enclosure right between the antennas with POE ran to it. Made a huge difference by immediately turning the RF signal into data.

Hey thanks for doing these videos! I have ordered a MoFi and service from one of the LTE providers and it will be here tomorrow.

We will see how things look for just the MoFi but you have given me some great options if my signal is not up to snuff off the modem only.

I have 4 grid antenna. Should the horn be adjusted in or out for band 66. The directions are not really clear.

Hello John I wanted to ask if their is any way to get in contact with you to ask you some questions about setting things up? I want to make sure that I'm I do everything correctly. One of my questions Is who would I get to set up the pole and antennas on my home, what would you call them or search for to find these people on the internet?
. I wanted to get a professional to do it because my home does not have a ledge like yours, the roof is very high up, and I don't want to damage the house.

I just bought the long ranger parabolic to replace a small yagi. After a mining for about 30 minutes. I went from -106dbi with the yagi to -101dbi with the parabolic and I just dont understand why.

For me speeds were limited most by the mofi. I also didn't like that the Ethernet ports were 100\10 which end up capping out at 60-70 megabits for me. But yeah the modem in the mofi is becoming aged, and as far as I know it lacks lte-a. You also miss out on a couple bands at least for att and can only do 2 times carrier aggregation. In some cases like mine, getting a newer modem can improve speeds a good bit. The Sierra 7511\7565 or the quecten em12-g are good options. I'm still rather new to building routers but there are tons of guides. The modems I mentioned may be able to go into the mofi with an m.2 to pcie adapter. But best to do your own research.

I just bought a new m2m h721 router and an em12-g modem to go in it. This router is barebones so you're better off getting a lte router that just needs a lte modem if you are new. This one takes more work. But yeah if I could redo it I wish I would've went to the ltehack forums and built a router instead of buying a mofi. You can even build the exact same hardware that the mofi has for half the price. The only difference is the mofi uses their own software that i believe is a modified version of rooter. But there are multiple free router software's and tutorials for them. In general they are better than mofis but they might take a little more learning.

The mofi as a router for Wi-Fi around your home sucks too. And even if you pass it through to a different router, you will still be limited to the slow Ethernet ports on the mofi. If you get slower speeds anyway or you only need one hand that the mofi supports then it will work fine, otherwise it could be limiting you. They also sell it with a weak power supply. Honestly surprising mofi hasn't updated the router I years, it should have gigabit ports, 2.4 and 5ghz wifi, a 7511 modem instead of 7455, and maybe some better antennas. Also for all the money they make off of them, you would think they would have a better guide for optimizing it. Makes me want to start a company.

Anyway if you don't want to build anything or buy a pre built router on ebay, then buy the mofi. If you only need that one band or don't need speeds above 70, go for the mofi. But if you want better Wi-Fi, and could benefit from a more modern modem, you should probably use that same amount of money and build your own. Or like I said buy a pre built one. Everything you need to know can be found on ltehacks forums. They also have a nice store with good prices and tutorials. They'll even help you with questions you might have while building it. They are out of stock on some items so you may need to buy some off eBay or Amazon right now.

Good luck and do your own research, I wish I had. The nighthawk m1 won't work on a lot of plans, otherwise it's actually way more up to date. But if you need to band lock or live far away from a tower, the mofi would be better. The nighthawk has internal 4x4 mimo and a much newer modem, that's why it can be pretty good. But my iPad plan wouldn't be able to work on it. I might sell my mofi soon and I'll edit this post if anyone's interested. It has the paddle antenna upgrade. All the parts to build the mofi and use free router software would cost around $150. Instead of $315. You're better off buying a used mofi probably if you really want one.

How do you hook up two antennas to work together? Do you use a splitter of some sort like you would with TV cables? I only have the one grid antenna and a small yagi antenna, but the yagi it not hooked up at the moment. Also is there a benefit of having the one grid antenna turned at an angle against having it straight up and down?

I have the parabolic antenna mounted at 45 ...would i need to mount the long periodic at 45 too. right now they’re about 20 feet apart. I would like to get them both on the same pole. I raised the parabolic about 15 feet yesterday and seeds are to about 45 mbps. my question i guess if they stay far apart do they both have to be on a 45. would the other antenna improve quality if it was turned like the other

Do you think having multiple antennas and the booster that close to each other may be creating a loop causing noise?

Did you try adding some vertical separation between the two parabolic antennas? Curious if this would make a difference.

sorry if this is a repeat question, Do you have your Grid antenna run directly to the MoFi? I have my Grid hooked to my weBoost. I get Excellent signal but not the best speeds? thanks and love your videos

Hi john just purchased similar system. I haven’t got my lp antenna yet but I’m just testing the mofi out of the box and seems that signal strength is pretty good can get down to about -108 but signal quality is about -18. Really slow hoping that it gets better with antenna just wondering what yours was out of the box.

I think if you add another 3' of mast so you can use both grids and separate the 2 antennas @ least 3' apart you might find some good improvement. That's what I would try. Having them that close together may cause feedback.

Hey John are you still happy with the parabolic grid antennas? I keep loosing signal on my yagi directional antennas a couple times a day🙄

Show me where you got these. I need the two grid antennas and the mofi. I get no signal. The atnt plan is now gone. So I have to go with Verizon. I need to do something.

Can you connect a weboost booster to the mofi instead of this or would it not be as good?
